Courageous Conversation vs Courageous Listening

June 28, 2020 • Pastor Shon Davis

The importance of using critical listening in order to understand one another speech. Genesis-11:1-4 Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. 3 Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. 4 And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

JITA City Church Regathering Plans

June 22, 2020 • Pastor Shon Davis

Good morning members of Jesus Is The Answer Apostolic Church; I have been praying and committing myself towards hearing the will of God for JITA city Church around the timing of regathering Therefore, I have consulted with our board of directors to share my thoughts and recommendations and for them to share their feedback and wisdom regarding the timing of regathering and what we feel collectively as the executive leadership of the church. This COVID 19 has proven to be ever evolving and changing in its effectiveness and its ability to transfer from one person to another. Some have said we need to educate ourselves more about the virus. Though I agree, I would add that our understanding of it needs to remain open and fluid in thought, because what you knew about it a month ago, is no longer absolute in defining how it can be transferred, who is most vulnerable and pose a higher risk, if you had it and recovered from it, you can’t get it again. Every one of these theories has now become obsolete. People are attracting it even while following all the requirements of wearing a mask, hand washing, staying away from large gatherings. Now more cases of young people attracting it, even toddlers. The numbers are spiking in several cities including Spokane. Is it because of re-opening too soon or is it simply revealing what was already existing because of more testing and access to testing. I’m not stating that we follow the leading of the virus. What I am suggesting is that we follow the leading of God’s spirit and wisdom that knows what we ought to do. Remember, God work’s from the end to the beginning and not from the beginning to the end. Therefore, as the shepherd of JITA City Church I am resting in the wisdom of God for our house to not move so quickly in trying to get back to our traditional gatherings. But to be more creative and innovative in meeting the needs of the sheep and providing spiritual nourishment and edification that strengthens the faith and emotional stability of God’s people. My recommendation is to postpone starting the outside gathering planned for July though it does create opportunities for social distancing and still meet the need for human interaction and spiritual rejuvenation. I am more inclined to take steps that count, then to count steps to justify moving forward. Given the fact that the majority of our leadership that would be asked to provide ministerial service in these spaces are already dealing with compromised health issues. I do not want to put you in a compromised position nor cause a conflict of interest within your household. My ask to the membership of our church is to be patient, understanding, while being spiritually innovative in how we sustain our spirituality, our faith as well as our service to God and man. Matthew-6:33 encourages us to seek you first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. The things pertain to the answer’s that we need from God in regards to the timing of regathering vs us just marking our own path and giving you a date of when we feel its time to gather. There are safety measure’s that we have already begun to put into place to make the transition back into a formal time of fellowship and worship together. However, given the spike in positive testing here in Spokane and even cases arising out of our sister church. I am recommending to the church that we “Wait on the Lord, Watch and Pray”. I know we all miss the fellowship together and the spiritual rejuvenation that comes from corporate worship, praying for one another and the preaching of God's word. So in wisdom and in being creative I have suggested ways in which we can use today’s technology to continue to stay engaged spiritually and provide video, audio and written content to work towards the edification of the congregation. Remember Jesus asked Peter a question that would manifest his vertical love for God, based upon his Horizontal service towards his sheep. John-21 “If you Love me then Feed my sheep. What to expect in the Month of July and until the Lord say otherwise; 1. Ministers teaching Wednesday night bible study on FaceBook live at 7pm our regularly scheduled weekly service. 2. Worship songs devotionals shared out on the JITA City App or streamed through JITA Facebook 3. Department heads creating social connecting opportunities through zoom. Opportunities for fellowship, stories, testimonies and prayers for one another. JITA has its own Zoom account and can host a time of virtual gathering for the departments of the church. 4. There will be devotional Blogs (Written and Video) postings on our website and JITA City App to inspire and encourage our hearts through the word of God as well as creating conversations around current social and civil issues within our communities and nationwide. 5. Creating digital opportunities for the congregation to continue your financial support of the church through tithes and offerings and for our building needs (Utility bills/repairs-upkeep) as the physical place of our assembly. 6. In home cell ministries of intentional prayer times to create unity corporate prayer and for prayer request to be given This could be a designated day and time where the congregation can sign into Zoom and every house can be connected with one another to see and hear each other praying for one another. That where any two touch and http://agree...it shall be done. 7. Volunteering when and or if you can to support the upkeep of our property. The beautification projects that are taking place to enhance the beauty and appeal of God’s house. 8. Its a New Beginning, A new Norm. Where Jesus is still The Answer! From your Pastor & First Lady, Until He Comes We Welcome Your feedback

He Knows

When we struggle with being sure that we are in God's will and on the right path. When we look at our suffering and begin to wonder rather or not God knows what we are going through and rather he even cares. I want you to be assured, "That He Knows" and he cares. Jesus Is The Answer

Good Friday

April 10, 2020 • Pastor Shon Davis

Good Friday – Why is it “Good”? Is good Friday really “good”? It may seem odd that people celebrate the day Jesus’ was crucified as “good.” Obviously, the suffering Jesus went through on Good Friday was not good. He was whipped, beaten, mocked, and killed in a very violent way. How can that be good? When our focus is only on the process, we tend to minimize the outcomes that it produces. Jesus focus was not on the cross, but what was beyond the cross. “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews-12:2)

Holy Thursday

April 9, 2020 • Pastor Shon Davis

As we can see Thursday was a busy day for our savior. As he took the opportunity to sit down with his disciples and break bread one last time. Jesus used the teaching of the breaking of bread to reveal to them the understanding of Abraham’s Jehovah who would provide, “Himself” a lamb for the sacrifice. Jesus was providing himself as a living sacrifice on the cross that through his brokenness we may find wholeness.

Holy Wednesday

Praise the Lord JITA. As it was for Jesus, so it is with his church. The closer we get to fulfilling our Promise’s. The more real the Problem becomes. We see Jesus choosing to keep walking towards his promise, even though the place he’s entering into actually means, “Pain - Bethany”. How willing are we to commit ourselves to pursue destiny even when we know we are going to have to suffer to get there. “The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”. (Romans-8:18)

The Night That Revealed The Light

March 29, 2020 • Pastor Shon Davis

Even in uncertain times, the church can still rise and shine as lights in the world. Darkness was never intended to share the same space as light. Therefore, when light enters in, the darkness has to leave. This virus has caused some dark times to come upon our nation. But God commanded the light out of darkness. Jacob realized that the Lord was there all the time and he did not even know it. "Even when we don't see it and even when we don't feel it, He never stop, he never stop working". That is who he is! The light of the world.
