One of the greatest passages in all of Scripture about the utter uniqueness of God.
Prepare The Way Of The Lord
November 19, 2017 • James Fields
A beautiful passage about God’s redeeming, restorative intervention in human history. This passage opens the second half of the book which focuses on the saving work of God (in Jesus). This is the first time in Isaiah where the Gospel (good news!) is mentioned.
Trusting God
November 12, 2017 • Scott C. Jones
A long, narrative section of Isaiah that considers Hezekiah who almost gets it right. The two-fold point of this story seems to be: 1) Trust (only) in God! and 2) For God’s people to truly be freed, they’ll need a better and perfect King.
Tale of Two Cities
November 5, 2017 • Scott C. Jones
A fascinating allegory about the city of this world versus the city God will one day create. The challenge is basically: which city are you helping build?
God's People Among The Nations
October 29, 2017 • Jonathan Sgalambro
God is not only the God of Israel but He is Lord of all the nations. Thus, he can speak authoritative to the nations. Interestingly, these prophecies while about the nations are actually spoken to Israel. Point being: First, your God, Israel, is Ruler over all, so trust Him. And second, you have become just like all of the other nations, so it’s time to repent and act distinctly in the world.
The King and His People
October 22, 2017 • James Fields
One of the first of many prophecies in Isaiah about a coming King who will provide righteousness and judgement on a global scale. Isaiah envisions a king from the line of David who will bring renewal to all of creation.
