"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16
In today’s reading, Jesus calls us to recognize the transformative power of the light within us. We are likened to a city on a hill, a beacon that cannot be concealed. Just as a lamp is meant to illuminate its surroundings, our lives, infused with the light of Christ, are meant to shine for all to see. Just as a lamp is strategically placed to illuminate a room, we are strategically positioned in our communities, workplaces, and families to bring the light of hope, love, and goodness.
This week, let’s be intentional about letting our light shine. Through acts of kindness, compassion, and love, we reflect the very nature of Christ to those around us. In doing so, we participate in a grander narrative, one where our good works point beyond ourselves, giving glory to our heavenly Father.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the light of Christ that dwells within us. May our lives be a reflection of His love and goodness. Help us to shine brightly in our spheres of influence, bringing glory to You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
