They Put A Hit On Them Pt2

March 1, 2022 • Carmellia Chavers

Hello! Thank you for choosing to listen to my show. This story is part of a series, “They Put A Hit On Them!” In Genesis, I started with Moses and how Pharaoh tried to take him out as a baby. Then I told you about how Joseph was sold into slavery at the age of 17 and taken to Egypt, thrown into prison, eventually he interrupted the Pharaoh’s dreams and ended up being The Lord of the Land. He saved Egypt and his family during a 7 year famine. Now, I move to 1 Samuel where we learn about David, who was chosen by God to be His king. King Saul tried to killed him after the people admired David more than they did Saul. Thank you so much for listening. Be well. Be bless.

Happy New Year! Instead of being resolution oriented for the new year, be goal oriented. Make small goals, short term and big goals, long range. Write them down then check them off as you complete each one. Very satisfying. The title for this reading is, “They Put a Hit on Them”, is how the stories of the powers that be, plotted to kill or to get rid of leaders that God willed to rescue His people. First we are going to read about Joseph in Genesis 37:1-33, Gen. 37:36. Gen. 41:34-44. Then we will read about Moses in Exodus 1:5-10. Ex. 2:11-15. Then Ex. 3:1-10. It is so interesting how there were so many attempts to stop, slow down or wipeout the people of Israel. God used the evil that was put against them for the good of His people. A very interesting perspective. Enjoy.

Hello, hello! On my series, The Gospels, I will be reading from Luke 16. Jesus tells his disciples the parable of the Unjust Servant and of the rich man and Lazarus. In John 16, Jesus promises the disciples the Holy Spirit. And He also tells them, ask anything in His name and He will give it. And in Matthew 17, 3 of Jesus’ disciples witness the transfiguration of Jesus. Jesus heals an epileptic that His disciples could not heal. And Jesus tells Peter what to do so that they pay the tax that is asked of them. Thank again for listening. Be well. Be blessed and be safe.

Hello, hello! On the last broadcast we read through John 14, Matthew 15, and we ended with the crucifixion in Mark 15. This time we will start at Luke 15, where Jesus tells the parables of leaving the 99 to find the 1 and of the Prodigal Son. Then is John 15, the story of the Vinedresser and the vine. He also tells His disciples that they are now His friends and that when He leaves to go to the Father, His Father will send the Helper, the Holy Spirit. We also had time to read through Matthew 16 where Jesus tells Peter, "on this rock I will build My church,". Then we end it with Mark 16, Jesus Rises from the Dead. Such a great reading.

The Gospels Pt20

Hello! And welcome to another reading in the Gospels. This time I am reading from Mark 14 and Luke 14. I am a big fan of reading a piece out loud when you are learning. For me it makes me think a little better. Mark 14 begins with the preparation for the Passover and goes on to tell of the last supper, how Judas betrays Jesus which leads to Jesus’ arrest. A very interesting Chapter. And in Luke 14, Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath and teaches on honor, the great feast and the cost of being His disciple.

And in John 13, Jesus washes his disciples feet and tells Judas, “What you do, do it quickly.” Wow. Then lastly in Matthew 14, Herod kills John the Baptist and Jesus and Peter walk on the water. The Gospels Pt 17

This time we are in Luke 12 and John 12. They are both long chapters but are filled with interesting information. In Luke and John 12, Jesus is foreshadowing His death. But no one knew what He was actually saying. What I did not realize or remember is that Jesus said in Luke, how distressed He was and in John, how His soul was troubled about what was to come. We will soon be reading about the crucifixion but I am glad that the resurrection is coming also. Be blessed. Be well. And be safe.

The Gospels Pt 16

Hello! Hello! Thank you for listening to my podcasts. This week I am on The Gospels: Part 16. I have to start reading at Luke 11 because I skipped over it last time. This is the chapter were Jesus teaches the disciples to pray. Isn’t it strange that the disciples ask him that question? But as we know, throughout the Gospels, Jesus would go away to pray. Mostly at the end of the day. Also in this chapter, the Pharisees and scribes are trying to find ways to catch him breaking the law. And in Mark 12, Jesus has words with the religious leaders. They question Him about paying taxes, about the Resurrection and the Greatest Commandment. Jesus also tells the disciples about the widow and her 2 mites. Read along or just listen. Share with a friend. Be well and be blessed. Carmellia

Hello! This week I am beginning in Mark 11 where Jesus rides a colt into a village and the people threw down their clothes and leafy branches in His path and yelled “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.” And where Jesus teaches His disciples, vs. 22, to “Have faith in God.” Then I read John 11 where Jesus raises his friend Lazarus from the dead and after being told this, the chief priest that year, Caiaphas, a Pharisee decided that Jesus would die for the nation. And finally, I read Matthew 12 where Jesus was accused of breaking the Sabbath by the Pharisees and the scribes. I realized at the end of the reading I had skipped Luke 11. I will remedy that during my next reading. Thank you again and have a good one. Be safe. Be well. And be blessed.

Hello! I am continuing to read the Gospels and this is Part 12. The Gospels takes us through the ministry of Jesus and His walk on the way to the cross.
