Messiah's Birth

November 27, 2022 • Pastor Mark Johnson • Isaiah 7:14

Advent 2022 launches today. Pastor Phillip and I are excited to share 6 messages for an Advent Series, all from Isaiah’s amazing prophecies about the Messiah, written 700 years in advance. “Miracle on 34th Street” is nothing compared to the truly miraculous Christmas revelations of the God of the impossible.

Messiah's Success

December 25, 2022 • Pastor Phillip Macdonald • Isaiah 53:7–12

Merry Christmas, IBC! From a virgin birth to God becoming flesh, the Christmas story is filled with many shocking surprises. Likewise, the account of Jesus’ death is one of amazing paradoxes. As Pastor John MacArthur wrote, “God treated Jesus on the cross as if He lived your life so He could treat you as if you lived His.” Isaiah 53 describes the death and success of the Messiah, without which Christmas would have no meaning and we would have no hope.

The Messiah's Humility

December 18, 2022 • Pastor Phillip Macdonald • Isaiah 42:1–4, Isaiah 50:1–7

All of us have miserably failed in living as servants of God. Because of our sins and transgressions, we need a Servant of the Lord who humbly lives and suffers in our place. Isaiah 42 introduces us to “the Servant,” an individual God promised to send to do His will and save His people. The Servant is described in Isaiah 42:1-4, 49:1-7, 50:4-9, and 52:13-53:12.

Messiah's Character and Our Hope

December 11, 2022 • Pastor Mark Johnson • Isaiah 11:1–10

In our series “Christmas in Isaiah,” We’ve seen prophecies of Messiah’s birth in 7:14 and Messiah’s titles in 9:6-7. These brought hope for the prophet’s day and for the future. Next, Isaiah discussed the looming threat of an Assyrian invasion from the north. Where would HOPE come from? Where is the HOPE of the world today? In Jesus the Messiah!
