Today’s message kicks off a series of messages on the five “solas” of the Reformation 500 years ago. The word “sola” is Latin for “alone”. Martin Luther and the other reformers of the church of that time identified five core values or beliefs upon which all their work was based and which we still treasure today. The first is the foundation for the rest: “Sola Scriptura” or “Scripture Alone”. Today we celebrate the idea that Scripture alone is the basis of what Christians believe and how we live.
