DISCUSSION QUESTIONS What was an irrational fear you had as a child? Read Luke 8: 22-25 How do examples of Jesus’ power over nature and all other things remind you that He has the power to calm the storms in your life? How are you encouraged by His listening to the requests felt by the disciples? How do we, like the disciples, lose sight of Jesus’ power and his presence sometimes? In what ways does this passage serve as a source of encouragement for us? Who do you know that needs to be reminded that Jesus cares about the things they are worried about? How can you encourage them this week? How can we as a group encourage each other to trust that God is with us and for us? Pastor Chris challenged us to write “The most powerful being in existence is for me” and to post it somewhere we can see it every day. Where are you going to post it? DISCUSSION QUESTIONS What is the most amount of physical pain you have ever experienced? Did you experience any joy after walking through it? Read Romans 8:26-39 and James 1:2-4: What does it mean to you to read that God is for you? If you are “for” someone or something, what does that entail? On Sunday we talked about how God has the ability to work through every single thing in your life for good, including pain. Where have you seen that played out in your life already? How might we help remind each other of this truth? God never wastes a pain. How should this truth change how we live each day? Jesus was known more for his character than being sinless. What do we need to put in place in our lives so that we can be known by our character like Jesus was? How can we take steps to become more like him?
