Why do we become self-conscious when inviting someone or even telling someone we go to church? What was God intending the church to be all along and how might that impact how we share it to our community?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

How did you become connected to the church? Was any one key in helping you get connected?

What are some of the first things you would do if you knew Jesus was coming to your house? Would you take more time preparing your heart or house?

The religious leaders in this story didn’t believe Zacchaeus deserved to have Jesus talk with him. How can you fight against the attitude that some people are more deserving of grace while others have fallen too far away?

What modern groups of people might experience rejection similar to Zacchaeus the tax collector?

How do we reach others without losing who we are?

What might our group be able to do to get outside of the group to engage with others?

If we have the greatest news the world has ever heard, why don't we respond to it that way? Have we lost our ability to see what a life changing message we carry? How can we engage the Gospel from a fresh perspective? DISCUSSION QUESTIONS What did Sunday mornings look like for you growing up? What have you learned from reading the Bible that has been different from what you have heard about the Bible? What are some reasons people assume they can’t find peace with God? Why do you think people carry around these false assumptions? Is it difficult for you to believe that peace with God is possible? Why or why not? What is something that stands in the way of your peace with God? What is one thing you can do this week to begin to surrender that area of your life? What can this group do to support you?

Our God is constantly on a mission to seek and save the lost. We are His ambassadors. What does it mean to partner with Him on this mission? DISCUSSION QUESTIONS What is the silliest thing you've done to impress other people? Where do you find the tension between your faith and the world around you?  How has sharing the story of your faith helped develop your faith? How have you struggled with sharing?  Read 2 Cor 5:18-6:2: Reconciliation is used 5 times in this passage. Why is reconciliation so important to God? (6:1) "As God’s co-workers, we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain." God's grace in vain. What are some areas of our lives where we might be vulnerable to being vain to God's grace? In practical terms, how do you fulfill your role as a person who brings reconciliation? How can we encourage each other to advance our faith and further share it with those around us?

Big Parties

One light can shine, but how much brighter is it when multiple lights shine together. From the moment we are brought into God’s family we are called to multiply. Not for us, but for others. How can we learn to let our light shine brighter together? DISCUSSION QUESTIONS Have you ever had a mentor? What was different in that relationship than others? Read Acts 2:46-47. What is a glad and sincere heart? What does is that and what does that look like lived out? How have you witnessed your group or others in our community model making room for others? How can we make room for people in our own lives, group, church?
