Jacob - A Faith That Wrestles

June 10, 2018 • Pastor Scott Kircher

The author of Hebrews tells us that by faith Jacob blessed 2 of his grandchildren regarding their future. His walk in faith, however, was not always so faithful. This man through whom would come the 12 tribes of Israel, didn’t start off so good as he took control of his own life and wound up facing more heartache than he needed. He ended up finishing well after a wrestling encounter with God. Have you been walking your own way? Have you been wrestling with the Lord? No matter the path you have chosen, you too can end well as you persevere in seeking the Lord’s blessing, so you too can bless the future generations.

Gideon - A Faith that Makes a Hero Out of a Zero

July 22, 2018 • Pastor Scott Kircher

After entering the Promised Land and the death of Joshua and his generation, Israel turned from the Lord to worship false gods which brought about oppression from their enemies. In the book of Judges we see a continued cycle of blessing, spiritual complacency, sin, suffering at the hands of their enemies, a cry to God for help, and then God’s deliverance through someone God would raise up (a judge). Gideon is one of those that God raised up to lead Israel even though he was from the weakest clan and was the least in his family (Judges 6:15). How can we be like a Gideon and have faith that takes us from feeling like a zero to a Hero for the Lord?
