Just Around The Riverbend

July 18, 2021 • Pastor Michael Johnson

Key Scripture
Gen. 12:1-4

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you.

2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.

Point #1
Bending seasons are often contingent upon your exodus from places of familiarization

Point #2
The untethering from the familiar may be the catalyst that leads you to the unexpected promises of God.

Point #3
The promises of God are found at the end of the stream just around the riverbend.

We believe that God is equipping you for flexibility. There is more in you. Keep stretching.

The Gift of Flexibility

July 4, 2021 • Pastor Michael Johnson

In order to be able to adjust in life you often need to consider that you must be willing to be flexible to function in seasons that require your adaptation. Your bending will not break you, your bending is only meant to re-shape you. Key Scripture: Mark 1:16-18(ESV) 16 Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”[a] 18 And immediately they left their nets and followed him. Not only is there a natural ability to adapt to the changing seasons but there is also the gift of flexibility the Lord has graced you with to help you to bend without breaking. Point #1 Vs. 16 Flexibility requires your willingness to untether yourself from your current state of spiritual immobility. Point #2 Flexibility includes an element of formation and evolution. Point #3 Flexibility includes an element of commonality. Our hope is that this word helps you to become the flexible disciple God has called you to be. Elasticity

July 11, 2021 • Pastor Michael Johnson • Psalm 23

Psalms 23:1-6 (ESV) is the key scripture and we have an opportunity to look at it in a new way while we are learning about how to be Flexible Disciples. Flexibility varies between individuals, particularly in terms of differences in the muscle length of multi-joint muscles. However, flexibility in some joints can be increased to a certain degree by regular exercise. Observation #1 Elasticity is when you can cause your faith to expand to match God's ability in your life. Point #1 Ps. 23:1 Elasticity shifts the narrative to what you don't have to who you do have. Point #2 Ps. 23:2 Elasticity graces you to find peace in the provision of the great shepherd. Point #3 Ps. 23:3 Elasticity creates an opportunity for you to recover from the exhaustion of life. Point #4 Ps. 23:4 Elasticity creates a capacity for you to persevere with confidence through valleys of uncertainty despite the threat of death. Bent But Not Broken

July 25, 2021 • Pastor DeMarcus Johnson

Pastor DeMarcus L. Johnson shares a powerful word to conclude our latest sermon series The Flexible Disiciple. We believe that God is equipping you for flexibility. There is more in you. Keep stretching. Key Scripture 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. Key Points 1. Give God the Green Light! 2. Proper perspective perpetuates sufficient faith. 3. This life we live is not ours. Our hope is that this word helps to equip you with what you need to be who God has called you to be.
