Ezekiel 25:15-16 (KJV) Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred; Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.
The expression “give place to wrath” means to allow God to take care of it for you, to submit passively in a spirit of nonresistance.—to stand back and let the wrath of God take care of it.
Vengeance is God’s right and privilege.
“Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord”
The bible refers to it as “The OLD HATRED”.
(NLT) Long standing contempt.
(MSG) all those centuries of stored-up malice.
(ERV) They let their anger burn inside them too long.
Matthew 5:43-45 (KJV)
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, 1. bless them that curse you, 2. do good to them that hate you, and 3. pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Check list for walking in Love:
1. Bless (simply means to speak good of)
2 do good (as you are led and as opportunity presents itself)
3. Pray for
How will I know I have forgiven someone?
Bless - My choice to forgive others is choosing not to voice grievances and frustrations about them to others or rehearse them to myself.
God will take that as a sign of your love and forgiveness toward them.
My forgiveness is choosing not to talk about them (what they did or said) in my home or anywhere else.
And choosing rather to speak words of life and blessing over those who have wronged me.
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Forgiveness is a decision you may have to make every day for a season.
Some have the idea that they never actually forgave if the feelings of forgiveness don’t last past 24hrs.
The flesh lusts after the spirit, that means the flesh will challenge your decisions of faith and love daily “so that you cannot do the things you would”. Galatians 5:17
Loss of feeling doesn’t equal insincerity, but the mind will continually have to be renewed and built up in the Word of God to stay in love and in an awareness of the freedom to love.
What does the love of God look like?
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Amp
Love endures long and is patient and kind; Love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, Is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); It is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in me) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; It is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Your shadow has influence whether you want it to have or not A life casting a Godly shadow, moves others onto God’s agenda. HEBREWS 12:14csb Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness — without it no one will see the Lord. A self-centered shadow causes those in your shadow to drift 2. Your shadow is always consistent with your life A shadow is a reflection not a projection 3. An Impactful shadow comes from God’s ongoing work in your life.
