It says that we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works... good works come after salvation and are intended to be an outpouring of what Christ has done for us. So, while good works are not a condition for salvation, they are a consequence of salvation. However, they aren't to be used as proof of salvation as good works can vary extensively.
