Pursuit - North Oak

January 23, 2022 • Diannah White • Luke 7:36–50

We may find ourselves struggling to feel fulfilled in relationships when we feel there is an expectation that we have to act a certain way. We can be pursued for our talents, our education, or for what we can offer another. How crazy is it that what Jesus pursues us for is a relationship where we can humbly share our sin and brokenness? Do we respond as if Jesus is a casual guest in our home that we engage when we feel like it or do we treat him as the most important relationship we have?

The only constant is change

September 5, 2021 • Fabian Gonzalez • Matthew 9:14–17

Greek philosopher Heraclitus once said, “change is the only constant in life.” Change is difficult, because change comes with loss. But life is constantly changing. It’s those who are able to embrace and navigate the change that are usually better equipped for the future. How can we learn to embrace change, and continue to have hope, believing that God is always doing something new?

The Search for Love

February 14, 2021 • Kayla Meredith

One of our most important human needs is to be loved and to love. In life, we can search for love in many different "places." In our search for finding love, there is one love that will never fail us, that is always with us and in fact, nothing can separate us from it. That is the love of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Through the life of Ruth, we have an example of one who seeks after God's love by faith and not by sight.

Letting Go ... Moving Forward

December 27, 2020 • Bryan Rezen

Letting go is one of the hardest things to do. It’s so easy to try to hold on to things from our past, but we must trust that God has something better. Letting go of a relationship, hurt, fear, past mistakes, sin, shame, anger, past abuse, failures, regrets, worry, etc. is easier when we realize that God has a plan for each of us. When we let go of the things that are holding us back, we realize that what God has in store for us is never in the past.

Write Your Own Headlines

September 6, 2020 • Kayla Meredith

If a newspaper were to create a story of your past 24 hours or week or even month, what would the headlines say? The reality is you get to choose, despite what circumstances surround you. Paul, in the letter to the Philippians that he wrote from prison, offers us sound advice and a hope to live into as we get to choose our headlines. We have an opportunity each and every day to write the story of a life that pursues Christ!
