God commanded that a temple be built in Jerusalem where Jews could worship. Because the temple was the dwelling place of God, the place God chose to bear his name and house his presence on earth, it was the focal point of Jewish worship and culture. This is the temple where Jesus worshiped and taught. What can we learn from the design of the temple and what took place there has profound impact on our lives today.

Sin has an impact we can feel. We may feel guilty, wounded, or fearful because of sin, and we often describe those feelings in physical terms such as being crushed, weighed down, or suffocated. When Jesus came to the garden of Gethsemane he felt the weight of our sin. Have you ever felt like you had the weight of the world on your shoulders?

When we think about great cities we have visited or in which we have lived, there is often one place, event, or person that stands out as the symbol that identifies or represents what that city means to us. The events near the end of Jesus life took place directly outside the walls of Jerusalem forever establishing this great city as the city where God would show the world what great love looked like.
