The conclusion of Romans 2 focuses on the Jews, who had had a tendency to see their special status as God’s chosen people as placing them above others and also saving them. But the Apostle Paul wants them to understand that neither the Law nor the mark of circumcision ensures salvation. And yet, like the Jews, many Christians today get caught up in the same trap of believing certain actions and symbols automatically save them. Paul helps us see what the issues are with this line of thinking.
