In today’s parable Jesus makes an interesting comment about how and why we use light, as in a candle. But it raises much bigger questions about how we respond to God and His grace. It’s easy to believe our spiritual growth is the result of our own work at it, and there’s a degree of truth to that, but as we’ll see from Jesus, that’s definitely not the whole picture!

Most of us may know something about what parables are, but Jesus elevated them to an art form, and he used them routinely and powerfully. So, today we’ll gain a better understanding of Jesus’ use of parables as well as dig into one of them – the Parable of the Sower. As Jesus describes four types of soils in this parable, what is he calling his listeners to do, then and now!
