God With Us - Part 3 - For Eternity

Part 3 - For Eternity

December 22, 2024 • Pastor Zac Elliott • Matthew 1:23, John 14:1–6, John 8:32, Hebrews 2:14–16

This is part 4 of "God With Us," our series at Fusion Christian Church where we examine what it means for God to be present with his people through Jesus Christ. In this message, Pastor Zac teaches us that God wants to be with us for eternity. For this reason, he has given the offer of Jesus so that we might go to heaven with him.

Only Jesus can calm a troubled heart

When the disciples were worried about Jesus leaving them, he reassured them by saying, "Don't let your hearts be troubled." Jesus promised that he has gone to prepare a place for those who are in Christ. If we believe in him, then this promise is secure for us. This leads us to the question: What eternity are you living for? Are you living for eternity with God or without God?

God has a special place for you

God sent his son into the world to reunite us with him. He made a way for us to be with him in heaven. If we accept his son, Jesus, then we have a special place prepared for us for eternity. We don't have a perfect picture of what heaven will be like, but we do know that it will be free from all wicked things and full of every good thing. If you are a Christian and worried that heaven might be boring or unpleasant in some way, then you probably have gotten some of your ideas of heaven from other sources. The bible describes heaven as a place of joy. There is no reason to think we might be unhappy there.

Jesus is coming back, and you're invited to his House

The central belief of all Christians when it comes to the end of time is that Jesus is coming back. We must prepare for his return by accepting the invitation he has offered us to be part of his kingdom and to live in the Father's House. This brings us to ask: "How do I get to the Father's house?"

You have to accept God's invitation

Christ came the first time to provide a way to be with him. He will come back again to bring home those who have accepted him. Jesus is God's special invitation to eternity, and we need to trust in Jesus if we want to go to heaven.

You have to live in his truth

In addition to trusting Jesus, we must live in him. He told us that he is the truth, so living in Jesus means we live in God's truth. There is no other way to the Father. If we want to be in the Father's house, we must accept the Son.
