Foundations Matter

The Sermon on the Mount is the most famous sermon Jesus preached. Its name comes from the place where Jesus preached it — a mountainside that acted as a natural amphitheater along the shores of the sea of Galilee. In the sermon, Jesus covers a wide range of topics like prayer, fasting, money, worry, forgiveness, divorce, sexual lust, judging others and more. The theme that unites it all is this: Explaining God’s heart behind the law. It’s one of the most challenging biblical texts to interpret properly because it goes far deeper than just promoting external obedience to God’s moral imperatives — it speaks to the inner heart of us all!
