Lord of all power, we confess to feeling powerless at times. We feel powerless when things change quickly and we don’t know why or what it means. We feel powerless to make the world safer, to bring hope and healing, and to bridge the divides between people that lead to misery. And yet, the One whose power created all things is the same One who gives us the Holy Spirit to run the race of life with perseverance. May we count it all joy, because we know we are not abandoned, forgotten, or without power, because we know and are loved by You, Jesus, who gives us power to do what is needed today. Amen

Lord of all grace, we live in troubled times. Whether we are talking about crime, gas prices, inflation, politics, or anything else, we see trouble. However, we rarely check our reality in this world against the reality of the kingdom of God. In Jesus, we are forgiven. We have power through the Holy Spirit. We have spiritual gifts, and nothing except the cares of the world prevents us from pushing toward the prize of our high calling. Remind us to rejoice, not so that we can stick our heads in the sand, but so that we can put our hands on the plow for your kingdom. We ask for joy in Jesus’ name so we can serve you with power. Amen
