Ancient Practices for Anxious Times

June 12 - July 3, 2022

Guided Meditation

July 3, 2022

This week we wrapped up our sermon series on Ancient Practices, by learning about Elijah's experience with the still, small voice of God. We practiced listening ourselves, being in stillness and learning about how stillness and silence are small actions that can help us to make big changes. Praying Like monks

June 26, 2022 • 1 Thessalonians 5:16–24

This week, in our series Ancient Practices for Anxious Times, we harnessed the power of the PAUSE, as we learned about the rhythm of prayer for many monks and nuns. Patty Rankin joined me for a conversation on how we can choose to let prayer interrupt our days, helping us to be more reflective than reactive people. Lectio Divina

June 19, 2022 • Matthew 6:25–30, Matthew 6:33–34

Despite the best efforts of a determined fly to deter the message, last Sunday we learned about and practiced lectio divina, also known as sacred reading. We were reminded that God's word is living and breathing and still speaking to each and every one of us when we listen. I hope you find ways to try out this practice and learn the joy of hearing God's voice in our sacred scriptures. Labyrinths

June 12, 2022 • Rev. Amanda Meade • Psalm 23

This Sunday, we learned about the ancient practice of walking a labyrinth to help bring more peacefulness to our anxious times. How the twists and turns of this walk reflects the turns our own faith lives take as we try to draw close to the center where we can find God.
