Spirituality is a matter of belief and trust in Jesus’ saving work. The chief priests, teachers of the law, and elders were upset over Jesus’ clearing the temple (11:15-18). Even with the back and forth and options the Jewish leaders were weighing, we are still faced with either accepting or rejecting Jesus’ authority. What tables do you need Jesus to turn over in your life? What habits need to be submitted to his authority? Unhealthy attitudes?

The Bible asks questions that are worth asking and being answered. The Gospel of Mark poses many questions. Stay curious even when answers don’t come easily. Build toward fluency over simple information.

Before the next storm, remember: 1) Don’t pray for an exit strategy that compromises growing your belief 2) Fear and faith go hand in hand 3) Faith is extending the calm before the storm to calm during the storm.
