Get Your Feet Wet
January 7, 2024 • Rev. Jim Williams • Joshua 3:9–17
Before God performed the miracle of parting the waters of the Jordan River, the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant had to step into the water. That showed their faith in God. We, too, have to get our feet wet, stepping out in trust and obedience, in order to see the great things God can do in our lives.
Walking the Talk
December 31, 2023 • Rev. Jim Williams • 1 Peter 3:13–17
"If you're gonna talk the talk then you need to walk the walk." That's absolutely true. But how do we, as Christians, do that consistently? Peter gives us some helpful answers - advice that can help us get a good start as we enter the new year.
Cultivating a Christian Character
November 12, 2023 • Rev. Jim Williams • 2 Peter 1:3–8
Scripture is clear: we become members of God's family by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. However, our faith needs to become stronger and stronger as we live the Christian life. That's why Peter encourages us in this passage to "supplement our faith" with seven qualities to grow in our relationship with God and others.
What a Way to Win a War
November 5, 2023 • Rev. Jim Williams • Judges 7:19–23
As a result of their unfaithfulness, God was allowing the Israelites to be oppressed by their enemies. God led a man named Gideon - along with his small army - to defy the odds and defeat the Midianites in a very unusual way. No matter what your daily battles are, God can deliver you by His mighty power if you'll trust in Him.
The Prayer of Jabez
October 22, 2023 • Rev. Jim Williams • 1 Chronicles 4:9–10
It's easy to overlook this man named Jabez in the Bible. After all, his name is included with hundreds of other names in the book of 1 Chronicles, most of whom we know nothing about. But don't overlook this man and the powerful prayer he prayed. It can change your life!
Seeing, Caring, Praying & Sharing
October 15, 2023 • Rev. Jim Williams • Matthew 9:35–38
Jesus loves everyone. On one occasion when he saw the crowds of unsaved people surrounding Him, He urged His disciples to pray that God would send someone to share the good news of His saving grace with them. He wants us to do the same - and the answer to your prayer just might be YOU!
What's So Amazing About Grace?
September 24, 2023 • Rev. Jim Williams • Titus 2:11–14
Of the 155 times the word "grace" appears in the New Testament, 130 of those usages come from the pen of Paul. He knew - as John Newton would learn centuries later - that grace is one of the components that "saves a wretch" from sin. As we study what Paul writes to Titus about grace, I think you'll agree that it really is amazing!
Who's Tempting You?
September 17, 2023 • Rev. Jim Williams • James 1:13–18
When we sin, we usually blame it on something or someone other than ourselves. The Bible is clear: God is not to blame. For sure, Satan loves to tempt us. But James says that our own desires lead us into temptation and sin. Often it's the person in the mirror who's tempting you.
