Savior LORD Jesus

October 30, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 3:4–7

What does it mean that Jesus is your Savior? How about Lord? We have heard a lot lately about churches who have pondered the question, “Can I remain in my sin and be saved?” It is a question that the Bible most emphatically answers. For all of us the answer must be the same; for Jesus to be Savior He must first be Lord! God has laid it out clearly for us in 1 John 3 which is our text for today.

Dare To Be Different

October 23, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 3:1–3

How do we reach people for Jesus? How do we draw people to Jesus? How do we “grow” the Kingdom? These questions are asked by believers every day. Some desire to see people saved. Some desire to grow a following. Some desire to make budget. Some just want to try to be the Christians Jesus asked us to be in the Great Commission. One thing is certain – we are called to be different than those God desires to reach. We must be the people of God so that we can see God’s heart in saving the world HIS WAY. Let’s dare to be different…Let’s be Christians!

WILL THE REAL FAITH PLEASE STAND UP

All I Need Is..._____

October 9, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 2:24–29

When you read the title of the sermon do you hear a song? Does it make you think of something else? What is it that we really need? What is it that we really want? What is it that we should really focus on? Today, as we continue in the book of 1st John, we will see the challenge to avoid the snares of false teachers, prophets, and scriptures. We have what we need in….

Cuckoo or Christian?

October 2, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 2:18–23

Before we get too far along, let me assure you that I am not calling names in my outline today. I am simply going to use the famous, or perhaps I should say, “infamous”, cuckoo bird as an illustration. They are terrible from birth! Some people unfortunately have some of the same traits. Today we will see a wonderful and applicable warning from God’s Word so that we can beware of the cuckoos and soar with the eagles!

Don't Bite! It's Stink Bait

September 25, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 2:15–17

If you haven’t been fishing before then you may not understand what the bulletin is about this week. They are fishing lures. Inside those amazing colors is a hook. Once hooked, a fish has a very hard time getting away without major damage. Today we need to remember that Satan is doing some fishing also. In fact, the world itself would draw us in with promises of wonder. Don’t take the bait! It stinks!

Take Up the Sword!

September 18, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 2:12–14

The work of God in the lives of people is astounding. How can it be that we can be saved with child-like faith, be called to mature, and walk as Jesus did, and at the same time be told that we need to mature in the “meatier” things of Scripture and Righteousness? In other words – there is a place in God’s Kingdom for the child, for the scholar, and for everyone in between. And yet, no matter who you are, you are part of a great spiritual battle. Jesus has conquered the world – let’s follow Him to victory!

The Beauty of The Light

September 11, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 2:7–11

Jesus is the Light! When we walk in the light and become more like Jesus (walking as He did (1 John 2:6)) it will be very obvious. Today we will see the beauty of walking in, with, and for Jesus, as He is beyond good – He is awesome! Transformation should be attractive as well – let’s be recreated in God’s image and love as Jesus loved!

Positive and Continual Change

September 4, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 2:3–6

What does Christianity look like? We know that the demons believe and shutter; clearly, there must be more than just a “chill” during a worship song. How does it affect us? If more than a feeling, then is it a philosophy? What is Christianity? Is it a special knowledge? Is it a book study? Christianity is awesome; today, we will see that it brings positive and continual change.
