Take Up the Sword!

September 18, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 2:12–14

The work of God in the lives of people is astounding. How can it be that we can be saved with child-like faith, be called to mature, and walk as Jesus did, and at the same time be told that we need to mature in the “meatier” things of Scripture and Righteousness? In other words – there is a place in God’s Kingdom for the child, for the scholar, and for everyone in between. And yet, no matter who you are, you are part of a great spiritual battle. Jesus has conquered the world – let’s follow Him to victory!

Savior LORD Jesus

What does it mean that Jesus is your Savior? How about Lord? We have heard a lot lately about churches who have pondered the question, “Can I remain in my sin and be saved?” It is a question that the Bible most emphatically answers. For all of us the answer must be the same; for Jesus to be Savior He must first be Lord! God has laid it out clearly for us in 1 John 3 which is our text for today.

Dare To Be Different

October 23, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 3:1–3

How do we reach people for Jesus? How do we draw people to Jesus? How do we “grow” the Kingdom? These questions are asked by believers every day. Some desire to see people saved. Some desire to grow a following. Some desire to make budget. Some just want to try to be the Christians Jesus asked us to be in the Great Commission. One thing is certain – we are called to be different than those God desires to reach. We must be the people of God so that we can see God’s heart in saving the world HIS WAY. Let’s dare to be different…Let’s be Christians!
