For weeks we have seen that Love comes from God and that Christians must live in love. Now, as chapter 13 ends, we see a notable change in tone. Did Paul lose it? Did he decide to go all legalistic on us? Does it all tie together? Jesus loves us but that doesn’t mean that God is less holy or that He isn’t coming back. As He does—let’s get ready in love and under His Lordship.

In Acts 27, Paul is a prisoner and is being taken to Rome. God has a plan for him, a plan for him to share the gospel with Caesar and to help start and encourage the church in Rome. As Paul is on the way, the boat he is on gets caught in a terrible storm and the guards decide to kill everyone – Paul speaks to them and as God’s favor is with him, the guards relent. The ship is destroyed, but they make it to land. As we pick up the story, I wonder how many people feel like they have been shipwrecked in the personal, professional, or even spiritual lives? But there is great hope for those who trust in the Lord – because when it is all said and done, we are most secure in Him. Let’s finish this year well. Stay strong, the Lord is with us!

Christmas is such a special time of year. A time of wonder, hope, miracles, and gift-giving. And yet…you are here, in church, ready to remember what Christmas is all about. It is about Jesus. He humbled Himself to the form of a man to fulfill the will of the Father. Jesus is The Miracle from Heaven the world needed. Jesus made the world a better place and He will make your life better too. Receive the gift of Jesus this year – you will never reject it!

What is Christmas all about? Trees and Lights? Presents and Stockings? A Baby and a Virgin? Or could it be that the Christmas story falls in with the rest of the puzzle pieces in part of God’s plan to change the world forever? Not only did the birth story fulfill prophecy, but it showed us a picture of the life and ministry of the Messiah (Savior). Today we see what happens around the birth of Jesus and that picture was fulfilled in the perfection and ministry of Jesus.
