Generous Hearts: A Vision for a Generous Community

Generosity stems from a settled identity in grace and there are four conditions of a generous heart: having our security in Jesus; living out of abundance rather than scarcity; embracing hope in a world of chaos; living with courage to give of yourself. We live generously as Christians because we believe it can make an eternal difference, even if we may never see it.

Yet, God gives us a variety of opportunities to be generous: we can be generous with our time, influence, words, money, and resources. Often, we are tempted to offer God the excess of our lives rather than living sacrificially. Like Elijah, we must offer our generosity on the altar of God rather than the altar of self.
