Catch and Release

For the church, Jesus catches and transforms people, and then we are to make disciples and release those disciples to duplicate that ministry to others. Our default perspective on spiritual maturity is often equated with the intellectual grasp of the doctrines and teachings of the faith, or with being consumed by physical acts of service, or with age and years of experience as a believer. But being spiritually mature in seen in a heart dependence on Christ, the intellect's understanding of the faith, and the hands working empowered by Christ to accomplish the mission we've been given.
Chasing the Wanderers

What’s It All About?

Sometimes it feels like churches are in competition to see who can be the coolest, do the biggest events, or have the best smoke machines and mirrors. It might feel like there is some award for being the church that does the most. But Jesus said that the value of a church’s smoke machines and mirrors is only seen if they are being used to bring people to Him. Whether the church is big or small, busy or laid back it’s all about who the people in the church are becoming. It’s all about the church becoming the community of Christ.
