‘Submit’ – a word that either brings to mind pictures of people wrestling until one taps out, or a word that brings to mind the heartless oppression of one person against another. This is not a word that we normally associate with marital bliss. Yet Peter tells us it is an attitude of men and women towards each other that makes misfit families work. Join us as we explore the misfit family in God’s world.

A Misfit Community

"Church" What comes to mind when you hear that word? For most of us what comes to mind is a schedule, a place to go, and a duty to fulfill each week (or maybe twice a year). Yet to the misfits of this world (Christians), the church is a community that is much bigger than what we normally consider. Join us this week as we wrap up our study on 1 Peter, and as we celebrate the God of the church and what He has given us.

What comes first, the chicken or the egg? And when we are Christians, is it our behavior and ethics, or our heart changing what it loves? Being a misfit in this world means the conditions of our hearts may find radical expression in the way we live and love. Join us as we explore the way our faith and hope is expressed in the things we love.

Welcome Home, Misfits

June 26, 2022 • Mike Waldrop • 1 Peter 4:7–19

All of us want a place in this world to call "home". We want a place where we are loved, heard, understood and where we are not just taking, but giving as well. And when life is tough or we are unfairly put on the spot we want to know that home is safe and that we can find solidarity with that family and community. Join us this week as we explore the home we are given in what is sometimes a hostile world. And celebrate with us the God who gave it to us, and made it the great place it can be.
