1. How familiar are you with the concept of God as a divine warrior? Can you think of any other passages that describe God this way? How does this challenge or comfort you? 2. Take some time to rehearse God’s work in your own life. How has he fought for you? What works might you ask him to revive? 3. How is it that Christians can rejoice no matter the circumstances? 4. Write your own version of verses 17-19. “Even though…, yet I will exult in the Lord and rejoice in the God of my salvation.”

Injustice Undone

1. When have you seen evildoers "get a taste of their medicine"? How should we respond to this as Christians? 2. In what way can injustice be considered the child of idolatry? 3. Compare Isaiah 11:9 and Habakkuk 2:14. What are the two futures they describe? 4. Are there any injustices you need to repent of? What are they? 5. What about this passage gives you hope?

Faithful Waiting

How Could You, God?

1. Why did the Old Covenant need to be replaced? And why is the New Covenant superior? (See Hebrews 8:6-12 for help on this) 2. What additional similarities do you see between the contexts surrounding Habakkuk 1:8 and Deuteronomy 28:49? 3. Habakkuk 1:6 shows God’s sovereign rule over all nations. How does this encourage you as you consider present-day nations and powers? 4. If you were Habakkuk, how would you feel about God’s response in 1:5-11, and how would you respond to him? How does Habakkuk respond?
