Cornelius' Preparation & Peter's Vision
August 9, 2026 • Pastor Brandon Phillips • Acts 10:1–23
In Acts 10, Pastor Brandon shared how God used divine interruptions to bring Cornelius and Peter together, changing the course of history. Cornelius feared God, gave generously, and prayed faithfully, yet he still needed the saving grace of the gospel. God prepared his heart through common grace and then sent a person to share Christ with him. The message challenged us to consider who God may be preparing around us and whether we are willing to be the ones He sends.

Pastor Jim explored Acts 9 and the dramatic transformation of Saul, once a fierce persecutor of Christians who became one of the church’s most devoted members. 65th Anniversary Service
July 19, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty
As part of Family Church's 65th Anniversary Service, Pastor Jim preached a message on the biblical virtue of gratitude, reminding believers that thankfulness is at the heart of the Christian life. Drawing from Luke 17 and the story of the ten lepers, he challenged the congregation to be like the one who returned to thank Jesus with humility and worship. Pastor Jim also showed from Colossians, Philippians, and 1 Thessalonians that gratitude strengthens faith, combats anxiety and complaining, serves as a witness to others, and sustains believers through suffering. The service concluded with the Lord's Supper, celebrating Christ's sacrificial death and resurrection with hearts full of thanksgiving.

From Terrorist to Evangelist
July 12, 2026 • Pastor Alex Duran • Acts 9:10–22
Pastor Alex Duran taught from Acts 9:10–22, highlighting Saul's remarkable transformation from an enemy of Christ into one of His most faithful witnesses. He explained that Jesus saves people with a purpose by transforming them, opening their spiritual eyes through the Holy Spirit, and sending them out to share the gospel. Pastor Alex reminded us that following Jesus is never meant to be private but should be lived out publicly as faithful witnesses. Just as Saul was called to proclaim Christ, we are also commissioned to see our homes, workplaces, and communities as God-given opportunities to advance His kingdom.

July 5, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty • Acts 9:1–9

Drawing a parallel to King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4, Pastor Jim showed that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. The message reminded believers that God's humbling work is a gift of grace and that He alone deserves the glory for our salvation.

Philip & the Ethiopian Eunuch
June 28, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty • Acts 8:25–40
Pastor Jim preached from Acts 8, sharing the powerful account of the Ethiopian eunuch and how God continues to expand His kingdom beyond borders and barriers. He highlighted that although the eunuch possessed wealth and influence, only a relationship with God could fill the emptiness in his life. Pastor Jim emphasized how God orchestrated a divine appointment by leading Philip through the Holy Spirit to share the gospel. He challenged the church to be attentive to God's leading, ready to explain the hope found in Jesus through Scripture, and willing to build relationships with those searching for truth. The message concluded with the eunuch's baptism as a picture of joyful obedience and reminded believers to live as salt and light, faithfully sharing Christ with a world in need.

Saul, Samaritans, & Simon the Sorcerer
June 7, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty • Acts 8:1–13
This powerful message takes us deep into Acts chapter 8, where we witness the explosive spread of the gospel following Stephen's martyrdom. What appears as tragedy becomes the catalyst for God's mission as persecution scatters believers throughout Judea and Samaria, exactly as Jesus had commanded. We meet Philip, who courageously crosses cultural barriers to preach Christ in Samaria, a region Jews typically avoided due to centuries of hatred and prejudice. The message challenges us to examine our own prejudices and ask whether we're willing to take the gospel to people we might consider enemies or outcasts. We're confronted with the reality of spiritual warfare as Philip casts out demons and performs miracles, reminding us that the name of Jesus holds ultimate authority over darkness. The transformation in Samaria brings great joy, illustrating a profound truth: genuine ministry produces joy, not just activity. We're also introduced to Simon the sorcerer, whose story warns us about the difference between being amazed by God's power and truly surrendering to His lordship. Throughout this passage, we discover why God allows persecution, how suffering refines our faith, and the incredible intimacy that develops when we share in Christ's sufferings. This isn't just ancient history but a call to examine whether the joy of the Lord truly is our strength today.

Stephen’s Defense – Part 2
May 31, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty • Acts 7:44–60
Pastor Jim continues through Acts 7 as Stephen boldly stands before the Sanhedrin and points to Jesus rather than defending himself. Stephen recounts Israel’s history, showing how God’s people repeatedly resisted His grace and the work of the Holy Spirit.
When confronted with the truth, the religious leaders responded with anger and violence, but Stephen, filled with the Holy Spirit, responded with forgiveness and grace. This message challenges believers to consider how they respond to conviction, criticism, and hardship, while reminding us that faithfulness to God is rewarded with His presence and the promise of eternal life.

Stephen's Defense
May 24, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty • Acts 7:1–53
Pastor Jim delivered a powerful message from Acts 7, using Stephen’s defense before the Sanhedrin to teach believers how to confidently defend their faith. Stephen’s example reminds us to know God’s Word, to be led by the Holy Spirit, and to place our confidence in the Lord rather than in ourselves. Even while facing false accusations, Stephen responded with humility, wisdom, and courage, pointing to God’s faithfulness throughout Israel’s history. His Spirit-filled testimony challenges us to be prepared to give a clear defense of our faith and boldly share the hope we have in Christ.

Under Fire, Pressure Reveals the Real Me
May 17, 2026 • Pastor Sammie Brooks • Acts 6:8–15
Pastor Sammie Brooks delivers a powerful message from Acts 6:8-15 about Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit who faces false accusations from Greek-speaking Jews. The sermon emphasizes that Stephen’s wisdom and boldness come from being filled with the Holy Spirit and yielding daily to His control. When opponents cannot defeat Stephen’s arguments, they resort to lies and false witnesses, accusing him of blasphemy. Despite the serious accusations, Stephen remains calm and composed, his face shining like an angel. Pastor Sammie highlights how pressure reveals our true spiritual condition and encourages believers to trust God rather than retaliate when facing accusations, remembering that Jesus is our advocate.

God’s Grace for Mothers
May 10, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty • Luke 1:26–33
Pastor Jim’s Mother’s Day message focused on God’s amazing grace as seen through the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus. From the unexpected announcement of Jesus’ birth to the many challenges she faced along the way, Mary continually experienced God’s sustaining grace. Whether walking through uncertainty, hardship, loss, or heartbreak, God’s grace proved sufficient in every season of her life.
The message encourages mothers today that the same grace is available to them. God’s unmerited favor, strength, and goodness can sustain every mom through the unexpected moments, difficult journeys, and joys of motherhood.

Deacons
May 3, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty • Acts 6:1–7
This sermon from Acts 6:1-7 addresses a controversy that arose in the early church between Hellenist Jews and Hebrew Jews regarding the distribution of food to widows. The Hellenist widows were being neglected in the daily distribution, causing murmuring in the church. The apostles wisely responded by having the church select seven qualified men to serve as the first deacons, allowing the apostles to focus on prayer and preaching. This resolution led to continued church growth and even many priests coming to faith. The sermon emphasizes wise leadership principles, including investigating complaints, resolving issues quickly, delegating ministry responsibilities, and maintaining good reputations.

Gamaliel
April 26, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty • Acts 5:33–42
This sermon from Acts 5:33-42 focuses on how to minister to people who respond to truth with rage and anger. Pastor Jim shares his personal experience of being confronted about his own anger issues and uses the example of Gamaliel's wise intervention when the Sanhedrin wanted to kill the apostles. The message emphasizes that some people don't want to hear the truth and react with rage, but we can learn from Gamaliel's approach: establishing credibility, showing respect, appealing for righteousness, stating caution, presenting reasons, and offering wise counsel. The sermon concludes with the apostles rejoicing after being flogged, demonstrating how believers can maintain joy even when facing unjust treatment because their conscience is clear before God.

We must obey God rather than men!
April 19, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty • Acts 5:12–32
Pastor Jim teaches from the book of Acts (5:12–21), highlighting the powerful ministry of the apostles in Jerusalem. He explains that the miracles performed by the apostles served to confirm their God-given authority to lead the early church, clarify gospel doctrine, and establish the New Covenant.
This message reminds us that while God is still able to work miracles today, the apostles’ ministry was uniquely designed for a specific moment in history, the launching of the early church. Pastor Jim also calls believers to pursue unity, to choose bold faith over fear, and to embrace our responsibility to share the gospel with others.

The Deadly Sin of Hypocrisy
April 12, 2026 • Dr. Brent Black • Acts 5:1–11
Dr. Brent Black delivered a sobering message from Acts 5:1–11 about Ananias and Sapphira, who sold property but lied about giving the full proceeds to the church. He connected their story to the Old Testament account of Achan, showing how hidden sin can threaten God’s people from within. The couple sought the reputation of great generosity without making a genuine sacrifice, revealing the sin of hypocrisy. When confronted by Peter, both died immediately under divine judgment.
The passage served as a warning against pretending to be more spiritual than we truly are and emphasized that God values holiness and unity in His church. The message called believers to honest self-reflection and cautioned against the pride that fuels hypocrisy.

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ
April 5, 2026 • Pastor Jim McCarty • 1 Corinthians 15
This Easter message from 1 Corinthians 15 centers on the truth of Christ’s resurrection and why it matters. Pastor Jim explains the gospel: Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again, appearing to many witnesses. He also tackles the skeptical claim “there is no resurrection” by showing what would be true if Christ had not been raised. Preaching would be in vain, faith would be futile, and believers would still be in their sins.
Because Christ has risen, we have real hope. Believers are saved from sin and judgment and promised new, imperishable bodies. The sermon concludes with the promise of Christ's return and the ultimate victory over death, encouraging believers to be steadfast in their faith and service.
