Are the slavery laws in the Bible the nail in the coffin of Christianity?
No. There are four important responses to the issue of slavery in the Bible.
1. How does someone know that slavery is wrong apart from objective morality stemming from God?
2. The laws of slavery in the Bible are a difficult and sensitive subject that we must acknowledge and speak to correctly.
3. There are evils that God permits and regulats, but not ordains as good. An example is Deuteronomy 21, the law about having two wives.
4. To disprove Christianity one would have to give evidence that: A) Jesus did not exist, B) Jesus did not claim to be God, C) Jesus did not rise from the dead.
