Reflection Questions
1. Read the first two chapters of Matthew concerning the advent of the Messiah, and
list all the prophecies quoted by the author. Reflect on the significance of these. Of what
value are they to anyone today?
2. What are the promises of God that are most precious to you and why? Write the Scripture references to at least one of them below, or if you are not familiar with any, record a friend’s answer who is more familiar with Scripture.
3. The wise men journeyed long to reach the star’s destination, experiencing “great joy” upon their arrival at the home of the King (Matthew 2:10). Read Hebrews 11:1 through 12:2. Reflect on the joy motivating Jesus in Hebrews 12:2 and the attitude of the saints described in Hebrews 11. Evaluate the
health of your faith in your daily routine and talk to God about the joy upon which He
desires you to fixate in your journey to the cross.
