Mark 9:17-27 (NKJV)
“Then one of the crowd answered and said, ‘Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.’…So He asked his father, ‘How long has this been happening to him?’ And he said, ‘From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.’ Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!’…He (Jesus) rebuked the unclean spirit…Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, ‘He is dead.’ But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.”
“If You can do anything” is a cry of desperation. “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” is a cry of honesty. Jesus is never offended when we approach him with whatever level of faith that we have. Our cry for Him to help us move closer to Him, closer in our trust in His goodness, will always be rewarded by His mercy.
Thank You, Jesus, that we can ask for Your help to believe You, that You will take what trust we have and allow it to bear fruit in our lives.

John 3:16-17 (NKJV) “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” For God so loved the world that He gave…Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. We thank You, Lord, that You are love. That love is the action that You demonstrate towards us to change our whole world, both now and for eternity. Come have Your way in our lives. Acts 10:38-42 (NKJV) “…how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him…Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly…And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.” Jesus declared that the Holy Spirit had anointed Him to accomplish the Father’s will for His life. Peter testifies that Jesus’ anointing empowered Him to do good and heal all who were oppressed by the devil. Peter also testified that he was commissioned to continue with the message of healing and freedom. O Gracious Father, today we give thanks that the power of Jesus to heal, deliver and renew any life that comes to Him remains. Luke 8:26-39 (NKJV) “Then they sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee. And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, ‘What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!’ For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness. Jesus asked him, saying, ‘What is your name?’ And he said, ‘Legion,’ because many demons had entered him. And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss. Now a herd of many swine was feeding there on the mountain. So they begged Him that He would permit them to enter them. And He permitted them. Then the demons went out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the lake and drowned. When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country. Then they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. They also who had seen it told them by what means he who had been demon-possessed was healed. Then the whole multitude of the surrounding region of the Gadarenes asked Him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. And He got into the boat and returned. Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, ‘Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.’ And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.” Demonic oppression, when confronted with Jesus, must always fall down before Him. When Jesus sets us free, He commissions us to tell others all the “great things God has done for us.” Jesus releases us to the liberty of joyfully proclaiming His goodness to us. Heavenly Father, we rejoice that Your only begotten son, Jesus, is our liberator. Jesus is the one commands all of our oppression to cease.
