8. Jesus is Buried

March 29, 2024 • John 19:38–42

Jesus is Buried. John 19:38-42 Contemplate the solemnity of Jesus' burial and the hope of His resurrection.  - Pray for the faith to trust in God's plan, even in the midst of darkness and uncertainty. Ask for the grace to live with hope and anticipation of the resurrection, knowing that Jesus has conquered death once and for all. - Pray for those who are grieving the loss of loved ones, that they may find comfort and assurance in the promise of eternal life through Christ.

7. Jesus is Crucified and Dies

March 29, 2024 • John 19:28–37

A three-hour darkness descends upon the land: “When the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.” The earth quakes, the temple curtain is torn, and Jesus thirsts. John 19:28-37 Reflect on the profound mystery of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, which brings salvation and redemption to all humanity.  - Pray for a deeper appreciation of the significance of Christ's death and resurrection in your own life. - Pray for those who have yet to encounter the truth of Jesus' saving grace, that they may come to know Him as their Lord and Savior. Ask for opportunities to share the hope of the Gospel with others and to bear witness to Christ's victory over sin and death.

6. Soldiers Divide Jesus' Clothes

March 29, 2024 • John 19:23–27

The soldiers divide Jesus’s clothing. John 19:23-27 Contemplate Jesus' forgiveness and compassion towards those who crucified Him.  - Pray for the grace to forgive those who have wronged you, and for reconciliation in relationships marked by division or conflict. - Pray for unity and love among believers, as demonstrated by Jesus' care for His mother and the disciple whom He loved. Ask for the grace to love others as Jesus loves us, regardless of differences or disagreements.

5. Jesus Carries His Cross

March 29, 2024 • John 19:17–27

Jesus carries his cross to Golgotha and is crucified.   John 19:17-27 Reflect on Jesus' willingness to bear the weight of the cross for the salvation of humanity.  - Pray for the strength to carry your own crosses in life with faith and perseverance, trusting in God's presence and grace. - Pray for those who are marginalized or oppressed, that they may find hope and liberation through the cross of Christ. Ask for the grace to work towards justice and reconciliation in your community.

4. Jesus Sentenced to be Crucified

March 29, 2024 • John 19:1–16

Jesus is sentenced to be crucified:   John 19:1-16 Contemplate the immense suffering Jesus endured during his crucifixion, despite being innocent.  - Pray for a deeper understanding of the sacrificial love displayed by Jesus on the cross. Ask for the grace to live lives of selfless love and service, following the example of Christ. - Pray for those who suffer unjustly today, that they may find comfort and strength in the knowledge of Jesus' solidarity with them.

3. Jesus Before Pilate

March 29, 2024 • John 18:28–40

Jesus appears before Pilate, is sent over to Herod, and then back to Pilate where he is sentenced to be crucified. John 18:28-40  Reflect on Pilate's struggle to find truth and justice amid social and political pressure.  - Pray for humility in recognizing the kingship of Jesus in your own life and in the world. Ask for the grace to submit to His reign and to testify to the truth, even when it is unpopular or challenging. - Pray for leaders around the world who face difficult decisions, that they may govern with integrity and seek justice for all.

2. Jesus on Trial with Annas

March 29, 2024 • John 18:12–14, John 18:19–24

Jesus was taken for trial before Annas John 18:12-14, 19-24 Contemplate the unjust treatment Jesus faced during his trial before Annas.  -Pray for the courage to stand firm in your faith, even in the face of opposition or persecution. Ask for the wisdom to speak truth with grace, as Jesus did, even when confronted with hostility. -Pray for those who face injustice in our world today, especially those who are wrongly accused or unfairly treated within legal systems.

1. Jesus is Arrested

March 29, 2024 • John 18:1–14

In the early morning hours…Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane.  John 18:1- 14 - Reflect on the courage of Jesus as he faced his impending arrest, knowing the suffering that awaited him.  Pray for strength and courage in your own life when facing difficult circumstances to put away the sword and desire for revenge. - Pray for those who betray others, knowingly or unknowingly. Ask for forgiveness and healing in relationships where trust has been broken, and for the grace to extend forgiveness as Jesus did.
