As we continue with our study of the Ark of the Covenant, we come to a tragic event in its history, namely, the capture of the Ark by the Philistines. On the positive side, we are introduced to one of the greatest characters in Israel's history, Samuel. We find that he had been dedicated to the Lord by his mother Hannah. He was staying with the High Priest Eli at the Shiloh where the Ark was housed. This chapter gives us a precious incident where the Lord Himself spoke to you Samuel who initially thought it was Eli. Samuel's eventual response was, "Speak Lord, your servant is listening." A great lesson for us as how we are to react when the Lord is speaking to us. In this context, we are told that Israel went out to battle against the Philistines and were soundly defeated. Sadly, back in the camp, some of the leaders came up with the terrible idea of bringing the Ark with them into the next battle. They assumed that this would guarantee victory. The Philistines were needlessly fearful when the Ark arrived in Israel's camp. While the Ark symbolically represented the Lord Himself, the Lord was not living inside of it. Hence Israel was defeated and the Ark came into the hands of the pagan Philistines. Add to this, the two worthless sons of Eli, Phineas and Hophni, died in the battle. When word reach Eli that the battle was lost, that his sons had died, and the Ark was taken he fell over backwards and died. It was hearing about losing the Ark that cause his death. The wife of Phineas was giving brith at the tine to a son. She was also overwhelmed by the loss of the Ark to the point where she died in childbirth. Before she died, she named the child "Ichabod," the glory has departed from Israel. Indeed, it had. The people trusted in the Ark as a "good luck charm" rather than in the Lord Himself. As we will see in our next episode, while the Ark was now in the hands of the Philistines, it would not be something that was magical or even helpful to them. Indeed, the opposite would be the case.

We continue with our examination of the subject of the Ark of the Covenant. We've come to Episode 9 which is also chapter 9 in our book, In Search of the Lost Ark: The Quest For The Ark of the Covenant. The chapter is titled "Battling for the Promised Land." This book is a free download from our website educatingourworld and is found under the category of Bible Prophecy. We read the following.... We recall that God had promised Abraham that the entire land of Canaan would belong to his descendants. Jericho was the first city of the Promised Land to be conquered. After Jericho was destroyed, Joshua set his sights on the smaller city of Ai (pronounced eye). With the success at Jericho, it seemed that victory at Ai would be a simple matter. This, however, would not be the case. The People Went Fighting Without The Lord If Joshua thought that having the Ark of the Covenant would be an automatic guarantee for victory in battle, he would soon learn differently. The Bible describes what happened as follows: Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth-aven, east of Bethel, and said to them, “Go up and spy out the land.” And the men went up and spied out Ai. Then they returned to Joshua and said to him, “Not all the people need go up; about two or three thousand men should go up and attack Ai. Since they are so few, do not make the whole people toil up there” (Joshua 7:2,3 NRSV UE). The victory at Jericho was not won because of the superior fighting ability of Israel but because of the power of the Lord. Unfortunately, the overconfident people went to fight the battle with Ai without consulting Him. Scripture says: So about three thousand men went up there from the people, but they fled before the men of Ai (Joshua 7:4 NKJV). The army was defeated at Ai. The main reason for the defeat was that one of the Israelites, a man named Achan, took some of the booty from the destroyed city of Jericho. God had commanded that Jericho be utterly destroyed with no spoils taken. The Israelites had to be judged for their disobedience. After the loss at Ai, Joshua and the leaders fell before the Ark: Joshua and the leaders of Israel tore their clothing in dismay, threw dust on their heads, and bowed down facing the Ark of the LORD until evening (Joshua 7:6 NLT). Ai was eventually conquered, but a valuable lesson was learned—mere possession of the Ark did not guarantee victory. The Ark moved around a number of places during this time period. First, it seemed to remain a couple of years at Gilgal, the place where they first entered the land. On one occasion it was brought to Mount Ebal in the area of Shechem. This was too commemorate the victories at Jericho and Ai as well as having the covenant renewed. The Ark then settled in Shiloh for some 400 years. There a more permanent structure was built for the Ark. We discover that for a three-hundred-year period after the time of Joshua, the references to the Ark are rare. The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia notes: Just where the ark was during the period of the judges is still a matter of some uncertainty. We have the record of the High Priest Phineas receiving counsel from God concerning the civil war with Benjamin.7 We read the following in the Book of Judges: And the Israelites went up seeking direction from the LORD. (In those days the Ark of the Covenant of God was in Bethel, and Phinehas son of Eleazar and grandson of Aaron was the priest.) The Israelites asked the LORD, “Should we fight against our relatives from Benjamin again or should we stop?” The LORD said, “Go! Tomorrow, I will give you victory over them” (Judges 20:27,28 NLT). Apart from this one event, the Bible is silent about the Ark during the time of the Judges. Conclusion For several hundred years after the battle of Jericho, references to the Ark are few. It is assumed the Ark traveled with the Tabernacle and came to rest in Shiloh8, where it stood for a period of four hundred years. We now come to an incident where the Ark is again brought out to battle, and this time with disastrous results.

We continue our study of the subject of the Ark of the Covenant. As we have indicated, all the material from these videos comes from our book, In Search of the Lost Ark: The Quest For The Ark of the Covenant. It is a free download from our website, educatingourworld and can be found under the heading of Bible prophecy. We now come to Chapter 8, Conquering A City God's Way: Jericho... The God who reveals Himself in Scripture does things His own way. His ideas and thoughts are not the same as we human beings. The prophet Isaiah records the Lord as saying: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8,9 NKJV). This statement was never truer, than when Joshua received the battle plan from the Lord to take the city of Jericho. Once the children of Israel entered the land God had promised, they practiced the neglected rite of circumcision. Then they were ready to fulfill the promises of God and conquer the land. The first battle would be against the city of Jericho. The Battle Plan Against Jericho The battle fought against Jericho employed one of the oddest strategies ever used to fight a battle. Joshua told the men of war: Your entire army is to march around the city once a day for six days (Joshua 6:3 NLT). The seventh day the strategy would be different: Seven priests will walk ahead of the Ark, each carrying a ram’s horn. On the seventh day you are to march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. When you hear the priests give one long blast on the horns, have all the people give a mighty shout. Then the walls of the city will collapse, and the people can charge straight into the city (Joshua 6:4,5 NLT). As predicted, the walls did indeed come tumbling down at the seventh day after they had circled the city seven times. How did it happen? Simply put, it was a miracle. The Evidence Says This Actually Happened Recent archaeological evidence has substantiated the biblical account of the destruction of the city of Jericho by Joshua. After evaluating all the facts, archaeologist/scholar, Bryant Wood, writes: Was there a destruction at the hands of the Israelites? The correlation between the archaeological evidence and the Biblical narrative is substantial. The city was strongly fortified (Joshua 2:5,7,15,6:5,20). The attack occurred just after harvest time in the spring (Joshua 2:6, 3:15, 5:10). The inhabitants had no opportunity to flee with their foodstuffs (Joshua 6:1). The siege was short (Joshua 6:15). The walls were leveled, possibly by an earthquake (Joshua 6:20). The city was not plundered (Joshua 6:17,18). The city was burned (Joshua 6:24). For further documentation on the evidence from Jericho, see our book Ancient Mysteries of the Bible Solved, Volume 1, pages 54-55... It can be found under the heading of "The Bible." God’s Power Is What Brought Down The Walls Jericho, the fortified city of Canaan, was conquered by the miraculous power of God. Led by the Ark of the Covenant, the city was taken with a battle plan that clearly showed the superiority of the God of Israel. The conquest of the Promised Land had begun.

We now move to Episode Seven in our examination of the subject of the Ark of the Covenant. This chapter is titled, "The Waters Of The Jordan Miraculously Part." As we have noted, we have already learned a number of great biblical truths thus far. However, we are just getting started... At last, the Promised Land! After wandering for forty years in the wilderness, the children of Israel were about to enter the land God had promised to Abraham and his descendants. A major obstacle, however, stood in the way. Between them and their dream was the swift current of the river Jordan. As God had previously parted the Red Sea, He would now work another remarkable miracle to bring His people to the land of promise. This miracle would center on the Ark of the Covenant. Israel Had A New Leader This was the appropriate occasion for God to raise up Joshua in the sight of the people. It was now his time to be confirmed by God as Israel’s new leader. The Miracle Would Give Further Proof That God Was With Them As the miracle at the Red Sea proved the Lord would be good to His promises, we find a similar miracle happening here. The Miracle Occurs As God promised, the waters parted when the priests, carrying the Ark, entered the Jordan River. The Bible explains it in this manner: When the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carried the ark of the covenant ahead of the people. Now the Jordan overflows its banks throughout the harvest season. But as soon as the priests carrying the ark reached the Jordan, their feet touched the water at its edge and the water flowing downstream stood still, rising up [in] a mass that extended as far as Adam, a city next to Zarethan…The priests carrying the ark of the LORD’s covenant stood firmly on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel crossed on dry ground until the entire nation had finished crossing the Jordan (Joshua 3:14-17) One can only imagine the great comfort that it gave the nation. There Is No Doubt About The Supernatural Nature Of The Event A close examination of the text will reveal that this crossing was a supernatural event due to the following circumstances. 1. The Event Was Predicted First, the incident occurred as predicted. God had promised Joshua that this event would show His power to their enemies. 2. The Timing Was Supernatural The timing of the event was exact. As soon as the priests stepped into the water, the Jordan parted. 3. The River Was At Flood Stage To add to the miraculous character of the event, it occurred when the river was at flood stage. 4. The Bottom Was Dry The bottom of the river was dry enough for all the people to walk across. 5. There Was A Long Duration The wall of water lasted the entire time it took the children of Israel to cross the dry river. 6. The Water Returned Immediately after the people entered the Promised Land and the priests came out of the river, the water returned. Again, the timing was perfect. The Promise Joshua assured the people that the living God would prove His presence among them and drive out the Canaanites. Once this mighty miracle occurred, the Passover was celebrated (Joshua 4:19-5:10). The next day the manna ceased. The Conquest Begins Israel was now committed to fight against the inhabitants of Canaan. This included overcoming well-protected cities and armies with chariots. There was no going back. In our next episode, we will discover another set of miracles, namely, when the people encountered the fortified city of Jericho upon entering the land... Please note that this information, plus so much more, can be found in our book, In Search Of The Lost ArkThe Quest For The Ark Of The Covenant... Like all of the material on our website educatingourworld, it is a free download that can be found under the heading of Bible Prophecy. We have now arrived at Episode Six in our study of the Ark of the Covenant. As we have mentioned, all of the material that we go through is found in our book, "In Search Of The Lost Ark: The Quest For The Ark of the Covenant. It is a free download from our website educatingourworld under the heading of Bible Prophecy. In this episode, we now begin to look at the journeys of the Ark. This chapter will take us from Mt. Sinai to the entrance of the people to the Promised Land some forty years later. Basically, we looked at the fact that the Ark led the way to the Promised Land while being unseen by the people, since it was always covered with badger skins and a blue cloth. It was the Levites who were responsible for the Ark, as well as for the tabernacle and its furniture. Since the Ark was a temporary place of meeting, it never found a permanent resting place during the wilderness wanderings. However, it was the center of the camp. In other words, it was central to the people's worship of the Lord. The most important day of the year, of course, was the Day of Atonement. It was the only time in the entire year that anyone entered the Holy of Holies and it was only one person who was allowed to enter, the Great High Priest. He would put blood on the Mercy Seat, the atonement cover. First, blood from a bull for his and his families sins, and then blood from a goat for the sins of the people. It spoke of a future time when our sins would not merely be covered but taken away. This came, of course, from the death of Jesus Christ. We also noted that God miraculously fed the people in the wilderness by "bread from heaven," or "manna." Consequently, a golden pot of manna was placed inside the Ark. To show who the genuine High Priest would be, the Lord had one member from each tribe of the twelve tribes to put their staffs in the Temple before the Ark. In the morning, the staff that supernaturally budded would indicate whose family the High Priest would come from. Aaron was chosen. Therefore, his staff was laid before the Ark of the Covenant. The Ark went before the people during their entire wilderness wanderings. As they were about to enter the Promised Land, Moses rehearsed the story of the Ark (Deuteronomy 10:1-5). Moses died without being able to enter the Promised Land. The Lord secretly buried him. Though his exact burial place is unknown, as we shall see, this location has figured into modern-day searches for the Ark. While it was now time for the people to enter the Promised Land, a seemingly impossible obstacle stood in their way. As we shall see in our next chapter, this object was not too difficult for the Lord!

As we continue our look at the subject of the Ark of the Covenant, we now arrive at Episode Five. "What was the Purpose of the Ark?" This is from our book, "In Search of the Lost Ark, the Quest For The Ark of the Covenant." It can be found as a free download from our website educatingourworld under the heading of Bible prophecy. There have been various theories put forward with respect to the purpose of the Ark. 1. A container where the Lord, the God of Israel, dwelt. 2. An idea borrowed from other nations. 3. A “talisman” or “good luck” charm. 4. A device that Moses constructed with advanced scientific knowledge. 5. An ancient war machine. 6. A container for the Ten Commandments as well as a representation of God’s presence. As we noted, there is no evidence whatsoever for Views 1-5. View 6 is the biblical view and the correct view. Indeed, though there have been many different attempts to discern the purpose of the Ark, the only view that fits the facts is the biblical explanation. The Ark was a container for the Ten Commandments—the covenant between God and His people. More than that, it was symbolic of the presence and character of God. He did not exist only there, but He revealed Himself from that sacred object. The Ark represented God’s presence in the midst of His people. The Lord told Moses: I will meet with you there, and from above the atonement lid, from between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you about all that I will command you for the Israelites (Exodus 25:22 NET). To those who consider the Ark merely some human-made superstitious object and who reject the God of Israel and His sacred artifact, we offer them the comments of the psalmist: Why do the nations rage? Why do the people waste their time with futile plans? The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the LORD and against his anointed one. “Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from this slavery.” But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them (Psalm 2:1-4 NLT). The Lord indeed scoffs at those who attempt to make plans against Him and His Anointed One, Jesus. He also laughs at those who try to explain away this sacred object which He Himself ordered to be created, the Ark of the Covenant. In the following episode, we will move on to our next section, "The History of the Ark of The Covenant."

We continue our study, answering a number of questions about the Ark of the Covenant. As we mentioned, all of the material that we reference is found in our book, "In Search of the Lost Ark, The Quest For The Ark of The Covenant." It is found on our website educatingourworld under the heading of Bible Prophecy, and it is a free download... In our fourth episode on this subject, we are looking at chapter 4 of the book, A Temporary Home For The Ark: The Tabernacle. As God had given divine instructions to build the Ark, He also gave specific instruction to construct a place to house the Ark for its wilderness journeys, the tent of meeting, or the "tabernacle." There was other furniture that the Lord commanded to be built. These articles, including the Ark, were described before the tent itself because they were of primary importance, and the Ark was the most important of all. That is why it is described first. Simply put, the tabernacle was a tent that was made according to God's pattern and it was a "holy place." It consisted to two rooms, the larger room "the Holy Place" and the smaller room "The Holy of Holies." While the priests would regularly work in the Holy Place, the Holy of Holies was only entered once a year, and only by the Great High Priest. This would take place on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. He would bring the blood of the offering and sprinkle it on the Mercy Seat, or Atonement Cover. This was done as an offering for the sins of the people. As we shall eventually explain, it spoke of the offering that Christ Himself would make on our behalf. We summarize this chapter as follows... The Importance Of The Ark Of The Covenant As we conclude our brief summary of the Tabernacle, we observe that the Ark of the Covenant ranked the highest of all the vessels, standing alone in the Holy of Holies. In the biblical order, before the Tabernacle was even described and commanded to be built, God gave orders to build this most important piece of furniture. All the rituals of the Tabernacle were conducted with reference to the Ark. Without the Ark of the Covenant, all the other vessels of the Tabernacle and all the service of the priests would have been useless. The Ark of the Covenant, the most important object in the Tabernacle, was now ready to make its trek to the Promised Land and a permanent resting place. It is vital that we understand exactly why the Ark was ordered to be constructed. Therefore, in our next episode, we will answer the all important question, "What Was The Purpose of The Ark?

We continue on, in this third video, with our examination of the subject of the Ark of the Covenant. We now examine how at how the Scripture describes this sacred object. Remember, the entire contents of this series on the Ark comes from our book, "In Search of the Lost Ark, The Quest For The Ark of the Covenant, It is a free download from our website educatingourworld found under the heading of Bible Prophecy. While there is a lot of information given to us about the description of the Ark, we noted that many of the specifics are not that clear. In fact, we summarized this chapter as follows... "The Ark is described for us in Scripture in basic terms. It was a small chest lined inside and outside with gold. Though the acacia wood formed the dimensions of the Ark, its appearance was all gold—no wood could be seen. There are, however, many points that we cannot express with certainty including: The Ark’s size, its “feet” or “molding,” and the look of the cherubim. Hence any artist’s conception can only be viewed as an approximation of what it looked like. What is known for certain is that the Ark of the Covenant was the most sacred object God has ever ordered humanity to construct. Not only did it contain the tablets of the Law, the Ten Commandments, written with the finger of God, it symbolized the covenant, the promises that God has made with His people and continues to keep." In our endnotes for this chapter, we have gone into a bit of detail describing the various options as to what the Ark precisely looked like. As we noted, there is much difference of opinion when it comes to concluding the exact look of this sacred object. What we do know for certain is that this golden object held the Ten Commandments, written by God Himself. It was the most sacred object ever constructed on our planet. It not only held the "Testimony," it would also be the place where the Lord would speak in a unique way to His people. To highlight its holiness, over twenty different terms in the Bible are used to describe it. Therefore, we should approach this subject with the utmost reverence and respect that it deserves. Indeed, as we shall see, it not only played a large part in Israel's history but it may even play a part in last days Bible prophecy. We will get to that possibility later in our study. All in all, since the Bible has so much to say about this sacred object, it is indeed worth our time to study its history, and consider the lessons that we learn from the biblical accounts of its journeys.

In Search of the Lost Ark, The Quest For The Ark of the Covenant (Episode 2). This study comes from our book with that title, found on our website educatingourworld under the heading of Bible Prophecy. It is a free download, as are all of our other resources. We pick up where we left last time as we begin our journey with the Ark of the Covenant. We start with Abram, whose name was later changed to Abraham. The Lord Himself appeared to this special individual over 4,000 years ago and made a covenant, namely, an agreement with him. It contained a number of specific promises. Among other things, his descendants would be a special people to the Lord who would live in a special land, one that the Lord specifically reserved for them. However, before his descendants would settle in the land, they would live as slaves for 400 years in a foreign country. At the end of that time, they would come out with much wealth. The Bible tells us that this is precisely what took place. After being slaves for 400 years in the Land of Egypt the nation of Israel, led by Moses, was miraculously brought out of the land by means of a number of special miracles, including the parting of the Red Sea. On the way to the Promised Land, at Mount Sinai, the Lord revealed Himself to this nation by means of great signs. He promised them that they would be a treasured possession to Him if they obeyed His commandments. In fact, they would be His unique representatives on the earth. This special covenant was made at Mount Sinai. Moses then went up on the mountain for forty days to receive the Ten Commandments written by God Himself. Tragically, on his way down he saw the people in sin. Throwing down the tablets in anger, the Lord then constructed a second set that would consist of the agreement between Him and the people. Now it was time to construct a sacred object which the Lord had chosen to symbolize Himself and which could house the Ten Commandment--the Ark of the Covenant. God then gave Moses the plans for the construction of the Ark. Our next episode will explain a number of things about the Ark itself as well as their meaning. As we noted, there will be many important biblical truths that we will learn as well as practical lessons for us. We trust this study will be a blessing to you.

Today we begin to look at the subject of the most sacred object ever made, the Ark of the Covenant! What is the Ark of the Covenant? How important of an object is it? Does it have anything to do with last days Bible prophecy? This is our introductory video on the subject of the "Lost Ark." We plan to do a number of them. All the information from these videos can be found in our book, "In Search of the Lost Ark: The Quest For The Ark of the Covenant." It is a free download from our website educatingourworld under the heading of Bible Prophecy. The summer of 1981 saw the release of the blockbuster movie “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” The fanciful plot, set in the 1930’s, depicted the search for the long lost Ark1 of the Covenant—the container that held the Ten Commandments that were given to Moses by God. The searchers included a corrupt French archaeologist, treacherous Nazis, and a dashing American archaeologist named Indiana Jones, portrayed by Harrison Ford. In the end Indiana got both the Ark and the girl. It was a marvelous adventure film. Many Questions Are Raised About The Ark The film raised the consciousness of the world to the subject of the Ark of the Covenant. This ancient artifact, constructed so long ago, became a topic of interest to the general public. Questions abounded concerning this sacred relic. What was the Ark of the Covenant? Did it have some secret power? Does it still exist? What would happen if the lost Ark were found? Would the discovery of the Ark have anything to do with end-time Bible prophecy? These questions, along with many others, will be the focus of this series that we will do. The Ark of the Covenant was constructed some 3,500 years ago on Mt. Sinai under God-given directions to the prophet Moses. After forty years of leading the children of Israel through the wilderness, the Ark was brought to the Promised Land. Eventually the Ark of the Covenant was placed in a permanent home in Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem. The last historical reference we have to the Ark is in 621 B.C. For some unknown reason the Ark had been removed from the Temple. King Josiah ordered it returned to its rightful place. The Bible says: And he said to the Levites who taught all Israel and who were holy to the Lord, “Put the holy ark in the house that Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, built. You need not carry it on your shoulders. Now serve the Lord your God and his people Israel” (2 Chronicles 35:3 ESV). In 587 B.C. the armies of the Babylonian Empire under the command of King Nebuchadnezzar, came down and burned the Temple at Jerusalem and took captive some of the holy vessels. However, there is no mention of the Ark. It has disappeared from history. The Second Temple, the one to which Jesus came, did not have the Ark. The question before us is this: What happened to the Ark of the Covenant? Is it lost? If so, will it ever be found again? If it is found, will it have something to do with last days Bible prophecy? We will do a number of videos as we seek to answer these questions. Fasten your seatbelt! You are in for a terrific ride...

Today we shift gears a bit and answer a question about our Christian behavior, namely, whom are we supposed to love? This question, and answer, is from our book "Winning the Spiritual War" Question 14. It can be found under the heading of Christian Living on our website educatingourworld. As always, it is a free download... The Bible says that the badge of the Christian is love. Indeed, the world will know us by our love. It is indeed the test of truly knowing God. Therefore, who specifically should love? What does the Bible command? First, and above all, we are to love God. This should be our highest priority. Next, we are to love fellow believers. In fact, Jesus said that the world will know that we are His disciples by our love for one another. Third, we are to love our spouses. Husbands are to love their wives, and wives their husbands. And of course, both spouses are to love their children! Fourth, we are to love unbelievers. This is something we should never forget. In fact Paul said that the love of Christ controls us, or constrains us, to reach out to those who do not know Jesus. Fifth, we are to love our neighbor. This is a simple way of saying that we are to love everyone, believer and unbeliever alike. Again, this includes those who are not easy to love. Finally, we are to love our enemies. This, of course, is something that we need supernatural strength to do. However, we are commanded to not only love our enemies but to pray for them also. To sum up, as we study the Bible and gain more knowledge of what it teaches, we should never forget this first and most important command, namely, we are to love. May the Lord help us show this love to everyone in our daily lives!

Today we look at the question, "Will a proposed sacrifice in Jerusalem of a red heifer, two days from now, have any meaning with respect to last days Bible prophecy?" In other words, does it mean that Christ is coming soon? While there are people who are touting the significance of such an act, if it occurs, it really has no meaning as far as the soon coming of Christ. We do know that a Third Temple will be built on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and that it will be built in unbelief of Jesus. It will be defiled by the final Antichrist which will then start the clock ticking to the coming of the Lord back to the earth. In fact, it will be 1,290 days from the defiling of this temple, known as the Abomination of Desolation, that the world will see the coming of the Lord. It has been contended that before the 3rd Temple is built, the Jews have to sacrifice a red heifer in accordance with the need to rid the defilement of the people. However, even if a red heifer is sacrificed in two days, it has no meaning with respect to the soon coming of the Lord. There are five reasons as to why.... First of all, the custodianship of the Temple Mount is in the hands of the Waqf, an Islamic group…. When the Temple Mount was liberated in June of 1967 by the Jews, it was handed back 10 days later to Islam where it has remained ever since. They are in complete authority of whatever happens on the Temple Mount. Second, Jews, as well as Christians, are not allowed to freely worship on the Temple Mount. Indeed, such practices are met with resistance by the Waqf as well as the Israeli police on the Mount… Third, there is no interest whatsoever in the Israeli government of changing the status quo. If there is no governmental interest in allowing the Jews and Christians to freely worship on the Mount, then the idea of the government pushing the building of a Third Temple on the Temple Mount is presently inconceivable…. Fourth, if the Jews attempted to do this, they would have the entire Islamic world against them as well as the Western World. War would certainly break out from everywhere… Fifth, even if the okay was granted, there is a huge problem that remains unsolved… where exactly was the Temple located upon the Temple Mount? There are four basic locations that are suggested, but nobody can be absolutely certain as to the precise location. It will be built someday, no doubt about it, but not in the near future…. So do not get your hopes up of an immediate coming of the Lord if this ritual is carried out… While there may be an immediate coming of Christ, it will have nothing to do with any ceremony that will take place. Therefore, do not be disappointed or disillusioned by believing that it means Christ is coming soon.
