We continue on, in this third video, with our examination of the subject of the Ark of the Covenant. We now examine how at how the Scripture describes this sacred object. Remember, the entire contents of this series on the Ark comes from our book, "In Search of the Lost Ark, The Quest For The Ark of the Covenant, It is a free download from our website educatingourworld found under the heading of Bible Prophecy.
While there is a lot of information given to us about the description of the Ark, we noted that many of the specifics are not that clear. In fact, we summarized this chapter as follows...
"The Ark is described for us in Scripture in basic terms. It was a small chest lined inside and outside with gold. Though the acacia wood formed the dimensions of the Ark, its appearance was all gold—no wood could be seen. There are, however, many points that we cannot express with certainty including: The Ark’s size, its “feet” or “molding,” and the look of the cherubim. Hence any artist’s conception can only be viewed as an approximation of what it looked like.
What is known for certain is that the Ark of the Covenant was the most sacred object God has ever ordered humanity to construct. Not only did it contain the tablets of the Law, the Ten Commandments, written with the finger of God, it symbolized the covenant, the promises that God has made with His people and continues to keep."
In our endnotes for this chapter, we have gone into a bit of detail describing the various options as to what the Ark precisely looked like. As we noted, there is much difference of opinion when it comes to concluding the exact look of this sacred object.
What we do know for certain is that this golden object held the Ten Commandments, written by God Himself. It was the most sacred object ever constructed on our planet.
It not only held the "Testimony," it would also be the place where the Lord would speak in a unique way to His people. To highlight its holiness, over twenty different terms in the Bible are used to describe it.
Therefore, we should approach this subject with the utmost reverence and respect that it deserves. Indeed, as we shall see, it not only played a large part in Israel's history but it may even play a part in last days Bible prophecy. We will get to that possibility later in our study.
All in all, since the Bible has so much to say about this sacred object, it is indeed worth our time to study its history, and consider the lessons that we learn from the biblical accounts of its journeys.
