The age old problem of pain and suffering in the world isn’t new to any of us. But each time heartbreak or tragedy strikes us, our loved ones, or our community, we often find ourselves grappling all over again with finding meaning in the midst of suffering.
And for many of us, the temptation is to settle into the “everything happens for a reason” narrative. But what are we really saying when we decide to place the reason for heartache on “God’s plan”? There has to be something deeper to hold on to, to trust in.
