Matthew 2:2 tells us that when the wise men came to Jerusalem, they asked people a question. “They asked the people, ‘Where is the child who has been born the king of the Jews? We saw the star that shows he was born. We saw it rise in the sky in the east and have come to worship him.”
The wise men were very clear about the purpose for their visit to Jerusalem. They wanted to worship the new king. Worshiping Jesus must have been very important to them — they made a long, hard journey to worship Him. That makes me wonder what it means to truly worship God.
True worship is more than just our actions. It means that we have a deep love for God. The Bible tells us many times that we need to have a special kind of love for God. And true worship is the way we show God our love and respect.
The Bible is full of examples of people who truly worshiped God. They dedicated their lives to Him. They offered sacrifices and shared their money and possessions. They sang and danced and praised God. These are just some of the ways we can worship God today.
Will you be like the wise men and worship God every day of your life?
