ENCOUNTERING CHRIST!

A Desperate Heart

A Desperate Heart

October 1, 2023 • Rich Millhouse • Mark 16:1–8

On one level our encounters with Christ are different and unique to our circumstances. But on another level our encounters with Christ take us to the same place, the same address... they take us to the Cross. They take us to a Desperate Heart. Here's what a desperate heart says, "Jesus, all I want... is all you are."  And at the end of the day, Encountering Jesus will lead us to say, "Your will, your way.”

Storm Stories

October 8, 2023 • Rich Millhouse • Mark 4:35–41

Everyone has a story to tell and everyone has a storm story as well to tell.  The disciples' extreme storm experience on Lake Galilee found them panicked, bailing water and wondering if Jesus really cared, as he slept on a cushion in the boat. How do you react in the middle of your storm experiences? Do you seek to control the situation? Do you wish you knew how it would all turn out? The disciples did, but Jesus showed them that they would not perish and the safest place in a storm was in the boat with Jesus.

The Rest of the Story...a Changed Life

October 15, 2023 • Rich Millhouse • Mark 5:1–20

When Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's go to the other side of the Lake", it was intentional and with purpose. It was to have an encounter with a man who desperately needed to be healed. That encounter helps reveal what enslaves a person and the connection to understanding your own heart.

Lavish Love

What does an encounter with Christ produce in one's life? And, what does an encounter with Christ receive? Mary's motive for anointing Jesus and Mary's magnificence point to a model of worship and service for Him. Jesus said, "She did what she could". What can you do?  She received the gospel of grace and forgiveness. Have you reminded yourself of that today?

My Determined Purpose

November 26, 2023 • Rich Millhouse • Philippians 3:7–14

Paul's encounter with Christ was centered on the gospel and cultivated by the gospel. Centered on the gospel because it was forgiveness of sins by grace through faith. Cultivated by the gospel because Paul's determined purpose was to know Him--that he may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him. Paul's desperate heart led him to say, "Jesus, all I want... is all you are."
