WISDOM: Where the Heart Is

July 4, 2021 • Blake Dunlevy

It beats, it breaks, it soars, it aches.
It can be hard or soft,
It can be empty or full.
It’s the origin of courage and the home of despair.
It can fail or overcome.
It can be big or shriveled.
It can be divided or steadfast.

There is more said about the Heart in both popular culture and biblical imagery than any other part of a human being or human body. It could definitely be titled “King of the Organs." It is sung about in every genre of music and poetry where it is credited as the source of emotion, motivation, pride, courage, empathy, and even, at times, intellect. Join us this week as we explore what the biblical writer meant when he instructed: “above all else, guard your heart”. More than that, we will explore what it means to have a heart that beats after our heavenly Father.
