Paul closes the letter to the Philippians with a very practical way to participate in the good work of spreading the good news – giving. If we want to be a church God uses to advance the good news, we must be a people who joyfully yet sacrificially give to support that good work.

Conflict and disharmony hurt the testimony of the church and hinder the progress of the gospel. In today's message, we see that Paul challenged the church in Philippi to stand firm and live in harmony, standing with one another for the gospel.

Spiritual maturity is marked by living out our heavenly call. We should take hold of it because Jesus has taken hold of us. Has the heavenly call God has on your life taken hold of you? Do you press on or make every effort to take hold of it? Are you passionately pursuing the work God wants and needs to do in you?

Every circumstance of a person’s life is an opportunity to advance the gospel. It can be easy to judge someone’s motive, but instead of judging their motive, we need to judge their message because the preaching of the gospel is what truly matters.
Confidence: Participation in the Gospel
September 11, 2022 • Brian Stone
The Church in Philippi was concerned about the spread of the gospel, so Paul wrote a letter to assure them of God’s plan and how to participate. In the book of Philippians, we learn about the strength of group unity produced by individual humility. We will discover how to live for Christ, the importance of Jesus' humility, how to be a light of the gospel, and live for God’s purpose. We will be comforted, but most importantly we’ll learn how to be a church God uses to spread the gospel.
