Healing Happens

August 7, 2022 • Dr Charles Kyker • 1 Corinthians 3

Christ Church has six essential Core Values that keep us grounded in our mission. Using the acronym of C-H-R-I-S-T, this week we are looking at H – Healing happens best in need-based ministries and small groups. Need-based ministries, like Celebrate Recovery, and sermon-based small groups we call Life Groups, are all about living into holiness – Sanctification, as John Wesley called it. We all have areas where we need special attention, intentional work, healing, deliverance, and transformation. Salvation is simply inviting the Person of Jesus Christ into your life, into the work-zone. And once you ask Jesus into your heart, you surrender your will (your way to His way) and trust Him to make Himself at home in your heart. The Lord loves you deeply and is ready to begin the healing and cleansing process. You both will work together.

Small Groups

August 28, 2022 • Dr Charles Kyker • 2 Corinthians 1

Where do you turn for comfort, for answers in this post-pandemic grid we find ourselves? Thoughts regarding life, work, and family relationships have been fine-tuned. Many people continue to deal with grief over the loss of a loved one. Extreme loneliness and isolation has caused many to suffer silently. Interruption of work and school routine is still affecting us, resulting in a lack of focus, motivation, meaning and purpose, at some level. Anxiety and depression is a daily battle for many of us. Are you weighed down with troubles? Where do you find respite? This week we are looking at our fifth essential core value represented by the “S” in the acronym of C-H-R-I-S-T. “Small Groups are the best place for life change.”

Incarnational & Inspirational Worship

August 21, 2022 • Dr Charles Kyker

Using the acronym C-H-R-I-S-T, the fourth core value of Christ Church is ‘I’ – “Incarnational and inspirational worship that is relevant and authentic is at the heart of who we are as we help people grow closer in their walk with Christ.” This fourth core value is a big one! What comes to mind when you think about worship? What does worship mean to you—how would you describe (explain, define) worship to someone who has no clue about God, the church, or who Jesus Christ is? Often, even those of us familiar with Christianity and the church may think of worship as a corporate service involving music, teaching, communion, and prayer. Others may think of worship as an event resembling a Christian concert. Still others may think of worship more in terms of a private setting, involving solitude and quiet reflection. Worship means different things to different people. What does the Bible say about worship?
