David as king of Judah & Israel wanted God to be focal point of nation in Jerusalem. He brought the Ark of God to Jerusalem to make God the center of life. For us to put God first we should 1) Focus on Personal Growth 2) Establish Relationships 3) Develop Teaching 4) Develop Opportunities to Serve. However, David shows how to wreck a marriage: 1) (David) allowed culture, not scripture, to define the marriage 2) (They) made compromises in their relationship with God 3) (Michal) had unrealistic expectations.

David is a model for leadership. David teaches us 1) importance of abiding, 2) no victory without a battle David consulted God before each of his decisive battles and God delivered his enemies into his hands.

After Saul’s death, David assumed reign over Judah and ultimately all Israel. He refused to take it by force, but wanted all to want him as king, so he waited seven and a half years for it. The promises of God are sometimes time sensitive. We also must wait upon the Lord... for direction ... for peace ... for an open door.
