A Time To Rebuild

Malachi 1-4

There were SIX statements by God and SIX arguments by the Israelites to rebut God's statements. It is noteworthy that He states in 3:1 He would send his Messenger to prepare the way of His coming. There was then a silence for about 400 years before the Messenger arrived with his announcement. Action Item - Malachi 3:16 “Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him...” What are some practical ways you can work on your book of remembrance?

Nehemiah 11-13

God calls all; He chooses some to do His work; others offer themselves to do God's work. Doing His work requires (1) Desire; (2) Gifting; (3) Investing. Nehemiah noted 3 major problems in Jerusalem: can you tell which they were? (Chapter 13) Action Items Are you walking in the Call of God for your life? Is there any areas where you have either let the world in or left the gates unlocked in your life? What are a few practical ways you can teach your children or grandchildren the language of the Bible?

The only way to develop an accurate understanding of God is by Revelation! Point 1: Man is broken, but God is merciful. - It is the Compassion of God that moves Him to come to the Aid of Fallen Man Point 2: Suffering comes from: - Broken due to the World being Broken - Mistreatment of others - Self-Inflicted Suffering Action item: Write out a covenant between you and God. Include verbiage allowing God to evaluate your life with his word and committing your personal life, family life, community life and church life to the Lord. Sign it and share it with someone you trust.

Nehemiah 8-9

Are you challenged by your reactions? It may be time to recalculate what you really should be doing! Remember, God is merciful. Action items: What areas do you need the Word of God to address in your life? Are there any issues you need to confess to God or others? Take a few minutes to thank the Lord for His mercy and His willingness to forgive.

Nehemiah 6-7

We must learn lessons from the lives of those who have lived through times similar to our difficult times. Nehemiah under attack gives us insight to a godly response. Point 1: The Word of God is essential. Point 2: Prayer is essential. To be selected as a leader one must be 1) faithful, and 2) fear God Point 3: Worship is essential. Ministry is important. Action 1: Since the bible, prayer and worship are essential, What are some ways to make a daily investments in your walk with God? Action 2: Share a bible verse with others that has had an impact upon you this week. Post that verse. Action 3: Reach out to at least one person from Calvary you haven’t spoken to in a while. Find out how you can pray for them.

Ezra 7-10

Although this book is titled for him, Ezra doesn't actually show up in it until chapter 7. Sixty years pass between Ezra chapter 6 to Ezra chapter 7, during which the events in the book of Esther takes place. Listen how Ezra became a key player in the restoration process of the temple and his people. 1. Ezra led a campaign of 15,000 people back to Jerusalem from Babylon. 2. He will be used to ignite a revival that will spread through tens of thousands of people in Jerusalem. 3. He established synagogues throughout area. 4. He established a new role within Judaism (Scribes) and he codified the canon of the Bible (our old testament).

Within our Restoration Series, this is the first of four parts on the prophet Zechariah. Jim already covered Haggai in previous weeks. These two prophets lived during the time of the Restoration period Jim is covering, and so included here for more detailed study of the era. Things that can impede Kingdom Work are: #1 - Having a crowded heart. #2 - Having good intentions without a good follow-through. #3 - Forgetting the urgency of the task. #4 - A fear of failure. #5 - Discouragement because: a) the task is enormous or impossible, or b) my part is so insignificant, how could it make any difference?
