Point 1: The Storm Romans 5:3-4 James 1:2-4 Philippians 1:12 Point 2: The Sand Quote: "Good things becomes bad things when we make them foundational things.” Rich Wilkerson Jr Point 3: The Rock “The tie between information and action has been severed. Information is now a commodity that can be bought and sold, or used as a form of entertainment, or worn like a garment to enhance one’s status. It comes indiscriminately, directed at no one in particular, disconnected from usefulness; we are glutted with information, drowning in information, have no control over it, and don’t know what to do with it.” -Neil Postman ACTION ITEMS: 1. HEAR IT (OR READ IT) 2. RECEIVE IT (AS THE WORD OF GOD) 3. SUBMIT TO IT (WE PLACE IT ABOVE OUT OWN FEELINGS, DESIRES, AND AMBITIONS)

Prophets help in communication with God. Three premises to bear in mind: 1) All of us need to hear from God; 2) God REALLY wants to speak to US; 3) God will speak to us through someone else. Beware of false prophets. A prophet speaks truth only if it's consistent with the Bible; you will know them not by their words but by their behavior! Action Items Have you trusted Christ as your Savior? If not pray: “Jesus, please forgive me of my sin, come into my life and help me to follow you” Ask a trusted Christian friend to evaluate your life. Ask them to be honest and kind, pointing out at least 2 positives and 2 areas to work on

Matthew 7:13-14

We are INVITED to ENTER - an imperative as in the Greek translation. As we go through the narrow gate, there is pressure on us: 1) To be living opposite to the culture of the times 2) In you to resistance in us to what Jesus values the most 3) For a work that Jesus wants to produce in us! Jesus is going to SAVE me from DESTRUCTION and GIVE me LIFE! Action item: What you need to do ... Enter through the narrow gate and invite someone else to join you

Church is not confined ... it is being mobilized Jonathan Edwards - “Every Christian family ought to be as it were a little church, consecrated to Christ and wholly influenced and governed by his rules.” Point 1 - Effective Prayer Makes a Difference James 5:16b NKJV “... The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” NIV “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” NLT “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” James 5:17-18 Point 2 - More Effective Prayer Makes a Bigger Difference • Relationship is the root of prayer. "Our Father..." • Worship is the focus of prayer. "Hallowed be Your Name..." Exodus 8:10; Deuteronomy 33:26; 1 Samuel 2:2; Daniel 11:32b • Surrender is the purpose of prayer. “Your Will Be Done...” Isaiah 55:8-9 • Petition is the privilege “Give us this day our daily bread...”
