Although this book is titled for him, Ezra doesn't actually show up in it until chapter 7. Sixty years pass between Ezra chapter 6 to Ezra chapter 7, during which the events in the book of Esther takes place. Listen how Ezra became a key player in the restoration process of the temple and his people.

1. Ezra led a campaign of 15,000 people back to Jerusalem from Babylon.
2. He will be used to ignite a revival that will spread through tens of thousands of people in Jerusalem.
3. He established synagogues throughout area.
4. He established a new role within Judaism (Scribes) and he codified the canon of the Bible (our old testament).

There were SIX statements by God and SIX arguments by the Israelites to rebut God's statements. It is noteworthy that He states in 3:1 He would send his Messenger to prepare the way of His coming. There was then a silence for about 400 years before the Messenger arrived with his announcement. Action Item - Malachi 3:16 “Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him...” What are some practical ways you can work on your book of remembrance?

God calls all; He chooses some to do His work; others offer themselves to do God's work. Doing His work requires (1) Desire; (2) Gifting; (3) Investing. Nehemiah noted 3 major problems in Jerusalem: can you tell which they were? (Chapter 13) Action Items Are you walking in the Call of God for your life? Is there any areas where you have either let the world in or left the gates unlocked in your life? What are a few practical ways you can teach your children or grandchildren the language of the Bible?

The only way to develop an accurate understanding of God is by Revelation! Point 1: Man is broken, but God is merciful. - It is the Compassion of God that moves Him to come to the Aid of Fallen Man Point 2: Suffering comes from: - Broken due to the World being Broken - Mistreatment of others - Self-Inflicted Suffering Action item: Write out a covenant between you and God. Include verbiage allowing God to evaluate your life with his word and committing your personal life, family life, community life and church life to the Lord. Sign it and share it with someone you trust.
