STORIES JESUS TOLD You do not have to be a Christian or know anything about the Bible to enjoy these Ohana group materials. You do not have to read, talk, sing, pray or share during the group time if you do not feel comfortable doing so. You are welcome to simply come and listen. These materials are designed to help people examine the stories or parables that Jesus told and how they can be relevant to life today. Within the session guides you will find links to other topics on what Jesus said about various subjects such as Who He Is, Forgiveness, Judgment, etc. Some of the links will also include His practical teachings on money, marriage, conflict resolution, etc. Whenever you see one of the link symbols -- -- it is an opportunity for your group to decide if they want to go to that link for the next session. This way, the group can tailor-make each session to fit the needs of the group. If there is no need for digging deeper into a particular topic, then your group should move to the next Story Jesus Told. Even if the group does not want to go to a link, you may personally choose to do so. Simply ask your Ohana leader for the guide sheet on the topic that interests you. You can go through the material on your own or with a friend or another Ohana member. Thank you for joining us on this journey toward a deeper spiritual experience through Stories Jesus Told.

INTRODUCTION This second set of lessons on the children of Israel is a follow-up on the first set which was on the deliverance of God’s people from bondage. What we saw in the first lessons was God’s great power back then and here, today. If you have not already done the first set, it is advisable that you stop right here and go through the first set. Why? Because you will not fully comprehend what they had to go through until you understand what they came out of and how they came out. There are two parts to salvation. Part one is “justification.” Part two is “sanctification.” This set of lessons is on sanctification, the experience of growing up into Jesus which eventually results in us getting to Paradise. Justification was the key word for the first set of lessons. Sanctification is the key word for this set. This set of lessons covers the trials and tribulations of the children of Israel after they had initially been delivered from their bondage and now are on their way to the Promised Land. What happened to them can fully apply to us, today. What lessons we can learn from these experiences! For forty years they were out there in that wilderness. The big question is “Why?” Their major problem was they could not really believe that the God who brought them out of bondage could take them into the Promised Land; and that’s why they had to spend forty years in the wilderness. They literally had to grow up in their faith to the point where they could totally trust God for everything. Our hope is that you have a great time doing these lessons. God bless you!
INTRODUCTION Today you are starting a brand new Ohana series on the trials and tribulations of the children of Israel. There are 27 lessons in this series; 12 in Part One and 15 in Part Two. The first twelve lessons cover how the children of Israel were able to get out of an impossible situation which would eventually have ended in death. Our hope is that out of this set of lessons you will discover how you, today, can be delivered from any personal enslavement to sin. This first series is how you and I, today, can be justified. The neat thing is that the same God who brought the children of Israel out of bondage is still big enough and strong enough to deliver us from our bondage of sin. The second series in this set is what happened to the children of Israel after they came out of Egypt and were on their way to the Promised Land. What a story! What we discover is that they had all kinds of good and bad experiences as they were on that road to Paradise. We will also discover what stopped them from going into the Promised Land much sooner than they did. By the way, it is the same thing that stops many of us from enjoying the blessings of the Promised Land today. The second series can be summed up in one word, “Sanctification.” There is a lot we can learn in these two series. Our hope is that you and your Ohana will be richly blessed as you work your way through these timely lessons.
