Chapter two of Habakkuk contains a derisive song taunting the threatening Chaldeans. History tells us that nations and empires rise to glory and then invariably fall to ignominious defeat. The Bible tells us that the LORD causes this to happen for His own purposes. Now Habakkuk shows that God is raising up a wicked nation that will bring His judgment upon rebellious Israel. How can the prophet and the people of Israel deal with the approaching violence and defeat? Habakkuk 2:20 provides an important perspective.

The book of Habakkuk ends with the prophet trembling, yet accepting the tribulation the Lord is going to bring on his people through an invading enemy nation.
