Chapter two of Habakkuk contains a derisive song taunting the threatening Chaldeans. History tells us that nations and empires rise to glory and then invariably fall to ignominious defeat. The Bible tells us that the LORD causes this to happen for His own purposes. Now Habakkuk shows that God is raising up a wicked nation that will bring His judgment upon rebellious Israel. How can the prophet and the people of Israel deal with the approaching violence and defeat? Habakkuk 2:20 provides an important perspective.
