Ezekiel 14-16

September 21, 2016 • Raul Ries

Israel is often pictured as a vine in Scripture. Vines are good for only two things: bearing fruit or burning. This is do to the soft nature of vine wood—it cannot be used to build anything. Because they refused to let go of the sin in their hearts, this was the condition of God’s people in Ezekiel’s day. Beyond useless, they were so corrupt the Lord likened them to adulterous wife who had broken the marriage covenant and a prostitute who actual paid paid others to sin with her. Yet even this did not move them.
